Hello fellow escapist,

I don't frequently make threads, so forgive me if this sucks....

I recently had my xbox 360 break on me. I've kinda been down for awhile, but now that the 360 is gone I've been able to consider something I've always thought about.

Game Importing. It's subject I hear much about on the escapist from users and even yahtzee. I often see a lot of video game titles from Japan that I would like to play. Also I'm always searching for older titles that I would like to get my hands on.

Me being primarily a console and handheld gamer, I don't really know what I need to do in terms of system modding (though I would like to avoid that)and I have a psp, which I know is region free.

To summarize what I'm trying to say (and to keep from rambling on like an idiot)Do you Import games and if so what is your usual process? Do you have a place where you like to import from? Any special game you would have never gotten if not for importing? Finally, do you have any tips from someone whose thinking of importing?

The majority of people who would import would be from Australia or New Zealand, or other places in which importation of games can save you, sometimes in the excess of half the RSP

I've never imported anything.
I buy all my games through Steam these days anyway.

I got close to picking up an early copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl when I was in Japan back in 08, though.

One awesome game thats import only is Jump Ultimate Stars on DS. Pretty much a fighting game with all the characters of the Jump Manga (who serialise Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and Dragon Ball Z to name 4 of about 50). Thing is, lots of different companies in NA and Europe own the distribution licenses to the individual series, so they cant get them all to ok the game beign released in English, so its only available in Japan. It works on DS, but im not sure if the 3DS will have no region protection.

I never really imported a lot of games, as ive got this website called Mightyape which imports games, so I just buy off there.

However, Im looking at importing some of the last gen tales games, because Namco Bandai thinks its ok to not release in PAL regions.

A word of warning though, watch out for region protection, its a *****.
