And here I thought people in the Escapist had a sense of humour....

Take a look at the rest of my post. I joked about necrophilia for goddesses sake! You really think after that a little jab at the author of the topic is 'going to far?"

Added: I just realized... I also joked about kids being zombies. Did I just inadvertently joke about pedophilia?!

Guess necromantic pedophilia is alright but daring to rip on a author of a stupid post is not... silly me.

Then it is my opinion what you posted here makes no bloody sense...

added: Actually... thinking on it more it does make sense, but it is outside of the humourous overtones I was making in this thread so I shouldn't go into details. Hint, it isn't a very nice for me to be saying you have wanted to make that 'immature' comment for so long you took whatever looked remotely like a 'square peg' to shove into the square hole. Cause who needs context, right....

Opps, I wasn't meant to say, oh guess humour is really and well truly dead.

Also, try not to pick on the newbies. You know, the people with nine posts? I'm sure you were picked on, and you probably want revenge.
Swwwing and misssss.

I don't even take a look at the person who's postings name, let alone how many posts they make.

Ok... you have me bloody curious now. Why this Lionel stuff? Once I could assume was some sort of jab at me that I don't understand, twice now makes me ponder it deeper and as it is to close to a real name I can't find out what 'meme' or something if it is one.

Look. If you want me to apologise for making him the butt of a joke while I was in a goofy mood, fine I can do that.

Tootmania, I don't know you and really have no reason to care about you but if someone jumps to this level just to defend you... Well, that says something to someone like me. Sorry for making you the butt of a joke back there. Been in a strange mood all night, as any of the dozen other posts of humour filled nonsense would show. Sorry if I hurt your feelings or something, I didn't mean to come across as if you where being singled out for any reason. As I stated, I didn't even look to see who was being made fun of... I saw a opening and took it.

Sorry.

Actually. Your come back to the question, to look at your Avatar, was quite good. Got a smile out of that one.

If you've been keeping up with movies lately, then you may know of "Zombie"land. A recent film about a young white nerd boy making a survival guide as he tries to survive the zombie apocalypse, who also meets several other people along the way whom he joins in an effort to survive the end of the world, and also gain the family which he never had.

Well it stunk like a massive pile of rancid Kool-Aid filled poo in my opinion. Oh, it starts off great! It begins with the events leading up to the previously mentioned zombie filled apocalypse by showing tons of awesome slow motion and graphically intense scenes of people being chased, eaten, and brutally maimed by the undead. And later on in the beginning it makes plenty of humorous and awesome examples and notes on how to survive zombie assaults, as narrated by our young quirky protagonist himself.

I know, it sounds awesome right? And with this it's off to a great start! But alas, the awesomeness soon begins to fade as we get further along in the film, and a young hawt female is introduced (packing a useless younger sister to boot), thus turning the film into a "Boy Meets Girl" love story, and the video game/zombie survival guide motif slowly removes itself from the movie in general.

But fret not, my brothers (and sisters, if there's any out there)! For I have composed a list of all the things that would have turned this lazy, unambitious, and sorry excuse for a film into a masterpiece!:

1. They actually retain and fully take advantage of the Zombie Survival Guide/Video Game motif! - In which there would be loads more examples and rules and whatnot for/from the "survival guide" itself. Also there could be "achievements" (Kind of like the "Zombie Kill of the Week" thing it did, except moar and bettar), a health bar (or something like it), and even a Leaderboard (where it would keep track of how well each of the remaining survivors are doing - with points based on kills and power-ups collected and stuff of course).

2. The main character is less "typical shallow representation of a culture, and also mildly good looking, and awkward in a cute/hanky panky sort of way", and is more along the lines of "actually human and not all that good looking and has real, socially crippling flaws and is nerdy/geeky in more relatable ways (Examples: Not all that attractive, is pretty much unable to bond well with other people, is unable to get a girl AT ALL, etc, etc).

If they had REALLY wanted a relatable, shut in nerd for a main character, they would have used someone like this:

Now THAT would take some real work, and writing, and characterization, and movie-making-know-how to pull off as a main character! A feat worthy of many awards, me thinks.

3. The main character does meet other characters along his journey, but they are actually flawed and interesting, and DO NOT wind up joining the main character in a super awesome hugs and kisses filled tag team. Oh, they might pair up here and there or work together to survive the next local zombie attack, but that doesn't stop the other people from either abusing the main characters trust, or even from trying to kill him, whether it be because they were an ex-criminal or they're mentally unstable or they see the main character as a threat. Oh yeah, and killing other survivors gets you major points on the previously mentioned leader board, and gets you a rank up.

4. There's as actual abundance of zombies, and zombie attacks, and awesome slow-mo zombie killing! It's a ZOMBIE-FREAKING-APOCALYPSE!! I don't want Bill Murray dressed up as a zombie and the destruction of the local Indian shop or a crappy love subplot. I WANT ZOMBIES! AND LOTS OF THEM! I also want zombie animals, and mutated zombie people/animal/machine hybrids!

5. The main character should also have a stalker! An evil zombie-mutated-ex-criminal-child-abducting-clown-pirate-monkey-man. He's a zombie and all, but he's also smarter, and moar evil, and more cunning. He stalks our hero through out the film, and does whatever he can to drive the main character insane. He doesn't want to kill him. Oh no! Not until hes SUFFERED!

6. It would also be neat to see the main character make it to the top of the Leaderboard by the end, and receive a special weapon and armor from Chuck Norris, Jesus, and Bill Gates (That would be a much more interesting cameo)as a reward for his efforts!

So yeah... that's all I've got... I'm done...
I 'spose it's not for everyone, but that movie was one of my all time favorites. Different strokes for different blokes I guess.

1.I would have liked to see more rules, but leaderboards, health bars, no way.

(I'm going through this fixing mistakes, and would like to point out that I was going through your topic step by step and didnt want to disagree with you this much. You didnt have to like this movie, but you're improvements and flaws do not make a good movie. I really didnt want to be this rude.)

2. I would never expect them to have a truly unpleasant, ugly nerd to star in a movie. They want a relatable hero in a movie like this.

3.do you really want bland side characters that aren't flawed and boring (the opposite of what you said flawed and interesting) that were that just tacked on to the hero? This questions written in a confusing manner.

4. You didn't like Bill Murray? I agree that the love plot didn't get me going but, it really moved Columbus' character forward, it was done better that alot of other movies, it wasnt tacked on. And there werent enough zombies, really? there was tons of em'.

5. there is no such thing as a smart zombie (I'm sure there's resident evil games with smart zombies but in movies they should be purely instinctual.) . About the best you can get is a trained one like in day of the dead. That would have ruined the movie.
Also, how would he keep up with them from I believe TX to Hollywood, does it have wings can it turn into a truck?

6. Now I'm convinced you did this thread as a joke. That's riduculous. If you really think thats a good idea you have a problem.

Well, you should start, Lionel. It's a rather good habit to get into.
I can't do that, It already takes me so long to formulate my thoughts that I often post while half way through them! Goddess, if I took a moment longer to first read a persons name then the eons it would take to dredge through the cobwebbed filled corridors of my mind just to see if I recognised them... well, I would be posting after one letter, and that could make for some really confusing posts.

PS: Wish I was kidding about the posting before I finished writing... if it wasn't for that edit button I would of had to finish a single thought over two or three posts. Worse with my tendency to write a post from the middle outwards. Though, it would be a laugh to watch people trying to follow my dribble even on the best of days without the ability to fix the post in a more coherent manor.

Though truthfully... it could help, at least to check up if I am replying to a person I think I am. That has been a confusing moment or two on some debates found in these threads when I posted in reply to someone who turned out to be someone else... or their dog or something.

In notice... It does seem in signalling me out, even out of context as it was, has done what you wanted it to achieve. Congratulations. Everyone here is being much nicer, well almost as three above us is someone not being nice at all. Hey, I might if goofed around with his post but at least I didn't say his lack of enjoyment in this movie is because he got dumped by some girlfriend he may or may not have... or want, hey I wouldn't want someone who would dump be mover a movie either.... Sadly I don't think it would survive much outside of this thread. In this state of mind, goofy as if someone has drugged me, I'm tempted to go start a religious based thread just to see if that hypothesis plays out.

Added: Ok... I really have to leave these threads till this mood passes I think. Please PM me about this "Lionel" stuff... I still don't know what you mean by it. Am I a train station? A MIT professor? Some US talk show host... what! I know, maybe I am some guy with a ridiculously large 1980's porn moustache, unless... that is the talk show host?

Actually, what you suggested was an action flick. Zombie Land is a comedy and I would like for it to stay that way.

Thank you, kind sir, for being decent enough to accept that my opinion is different than yours without calling me or my ideas are stupid.

Much appreciated.

EDIT: Woops... Messed up a little bit here...

Everyone who said Tootmania's idea for the movie to become more 'game friendly-ish' was bad, I whole heartedly agree with. Zombieland is a GREAT movie in my honest opinion and its going to stay that way.

I believe the directors did a good job at intuitively focusing on the humor potrayed by the main character, while giving Woody Harrelson that "I'm gonna kick your ass and look cool doing it" kinda Duke Nukem attitude.

The girls were added in there ON PURPOUS. The older sister wasnt there to instantly be on the side of "Lets get it on while zombies are eating my little sisters face"

You may have disliked the movie, but complaining about it wasnt necessary.

While I understand where the OP is coming from, I still liked Zombieland. A lot. So much that I might actually buy it when it comes out. It was a really good movie.

In my opinion, the film was great. The character's had been thought out and delivered appropriately. The story itself was just as good as it brought it down to survival of the fittest, I would have liked to have seen more survivors in the film but in a sense I'm glad they kept it to the core 4 characters, allowing the audience to really get to know the characters more in-depth. The whole thing about the young geek not being attractive isn't necessarily a bad thing, just because someone looks good they can't be a geek? No! I wouldn't call myself ugly and I'm most definately a geek therefore I think the choice in using Jesse Eisenberg was smart since he is a socially awkward character and he pulls it off very well.

Even if I found an attractive girl, once she'd fucked me over, stole my guns and car and other supplies, I'd never try it on with her. I'd fucking kill her, no matter how hot she is.
And that good sir makes you a psychopath :D
