This topic got me thinking.
First things first. I do not engage in sexual activities with anyone related. I am not attracted to them, and I do not care if they are.
I am not pro or anti, I'm just stating the facts. I don't care if others have incest.
To me there are 3 major reasons why incest is considered wrong in our culture.
1: It is not healthy for humanity, and unfortunate for the kids born from it.
My Opinion: Sex doesn't always lead to babies, but I do agree with this statement. However, the human race has and always will do things that are not beneficial for humanity, themselves, or their children. E.G. Smoking, wars, etc.
2: Its not consensual, and most of it is rape.
My Opinion: Unfortuantely yes. This article is just one talking about girls who get raped by their families. http://www.haaretz.com/news/father-son-indicted-for-raping-daughter-over-9-year-period-1.211309
However, there are people like http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/feb/27/germany.kateconnolly who have a completely consensual relationship and are getting bashed because of it.
3: Because Freud said so. (AKA its part of our culture)
My Opinion: Freud is either completely right, or completely misses, but his "fact" that everyone wants to have sex with their mother is completely wrong. I don't, and my mother looks really good for her age. Making people feel bad about themselves, or questioning natural feelings is mean, and what I find really wrong with Freud.
EDIT: (This is my opinion now. Also, I consider people who talk about dad baby jokes, 9/11 jokes, etc assholes because they aren't meant to poke fun at people. Jews can laugh at Jew jokes because its self deprecating.)
People every where joke about inbreeding, especially about people in Southern USA, but if we can joke about it then we obviously aren't TOO disgusted by it. You don't joke about dead babies or 9/11 (unless your an asshole that everyone hates), but you can joke about every president, black person, or Jew.
