So I'm a proud 360 owner, but I am VERY intrigued by Heavy Rain. I played the PS3 demo at a friends house and loved it. Now I hear that Indigo Prophecy is a lot like Heavy Rain, and is available for the console I have. I don't really care about the graphics much at all, just the gameplay. So is Indigo Prophecy a good game for someone looking for a "Heavy Rain" style game?

EDIT: Sorry about the poll not showing up. The Escapist is giving me some issues. The other thread with the poll showed up, sorry for the double post.

It's nowhere near as interactive as Heavy Rain, but it might be worth it if you want to try something different.

Just don't expect to be blown away

Yes, but it goes batshit insane after a while. If you can deal with that (I loved it) and mystic shit then get it. Heavy Rain doesn't have that, and it's got more flow but they're both worth getting.

I'd recommend it just because its so unique, I've never played any other game like it, and lacking a ps3 I might not be playing Heavy Rain for a wile.

I will have to go with yes.

I think it is one of the better games out there on the market. I would recommend renting it first though so you can decide if you actually like it.

The only thing I did not like about though is how the whole Mayan prophecy thing was played into it. I thought their was going to be more of an arcane element in the story. Plus, the whole AI thing at the almost end of the story was also a bit confusing.

I wouldn't consider it a 'game' per se (it doesn't even refer to itself that way, with the option being 'new movie' instead of 'new game'), but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The plot loses all sorts of sense in the third act, but all in all a worthwile experience.

Yes, let me put it this way: Persona 4, and Indigo Prophecy are the only reasons I still have my PS2

I would say yes.
I watched a buddy of mine play it and it was really good.
The story was interesting and the Quick Time Game play was actually fun looking.

Absolutely.

Indigo Prophesy is the ONLY game available that's anything like Heavy Rain. One may of course argue that it's not quite as polished as Heavy Rain but, as a great man once said(*), it deserves kudos for starting off the story right away rather than making you learn how to drink juice first! And storywise, it certainly doesn't take a backseat either - especially if you can accept the somewhat far-fetched second half.

(*Yahtzee, last Wednesday.)

Yeah, I really enjoyed Indigo Prophecy (or as us Brits know it, Fahrenheit). It does get really mad and I didn't feel the story lived up to the awesome punch of the beginning, but it is pretty damn unique and definitely worth a punt - you can probably pick it up pretty cheap now too.

I haven't played Heavy Rain, so I can't compare the two. But if you liked HR, I don't think you can do anything wrong with Indigo Prophecy.

As for the story, it's probably more mystical or paranormal than the one from HR, but I really enjoyed it. Although I think they've overdone themselves in the last third a bit. Maybe the writers, after finishing the first two thirds, started experimenting with drugs or something like that. I don' know... ;-)

The second half of this game was horrible as far as the story goes. You attempt to have a game with believable characters and drama, hinting at the paranormal and then go full out crazy-fest shitstorm in the second half.

In other words, this game was half good.

The thing is, Heavy Rain isn't like Indigo Prophecy, it's pretty much a new one. Exactly the same with new gen properties. Fun, and I haven't beaten it but heard it gets crazy at the end. So it depends, I heard from the place I bought IP from that people love it or hate it...

It's quite dated compared to Heavy Rain, but I got it as it was something different at the time, was quite fun and you had the different consequences depending on what you did. Worth a go but do remember it is getting on a bit now.

The first half of Indigo prophecy (as you call it) is among the best I have seen in gaming!

I wish I stopped playing half way because the end is the worst ever :(
