PS3 owners luck out on this one and get both, and both of them look equally good. Prototype has more original ideas, but InFamous has more polish.

inFamous, cause it's a PS3 exclusive and we need more of them. And also cause I've seen more demos and stuff of inFamous.

I totally take back every bad thing I've said about inFamous. The demo kicks all kinds of ass. And until a Prototype demo's out, they're not getting a purchase.

Well i gotta admit, Infamous and Prototype are in some aspects much the same, but seeing as i love the whole insane blood everywhere aspect im going with prototype.

As much think as both look great my recent selling of my ps3 (goddamned rent) requires me to say prototype as it's the only one I'll be able to play when released. Oh well I've been looking forward to prototype for a while now anyways, ability absorption for the win!

I've been told that Prototype is "more fun", but the Sly Cooper trilogy was amazing and any superhero game made by Sucker Punch has to be amazing.

But I don't have a PS3, so that gets kicked in the head.

I can't pick either one. None of them stands out. I think of this because neither have been polished enough for my tastes. Prototype is a good multi-platform concept, but missions look too repetitive. As for not doing missions like GTA 4-style killing, never got into it.

InFamous looks more polished, but because his powers are lightning-based, melee attacks are not presented well.

I still wait for a sandbox game with these aspects, but rather have a lot of variety in which powers you'd refine and choose. Just think about it. You're a villain or anti-hero, and justice or heroes would try to stop you. You get to pick different powers to add a nice edge in gameplay. You could play as a powerful destroyer of cities using your shapeshifting, or go enigmatic and use your powers of manipulation to control the world from the inside.

Played both now. And I still think 2 completly different games with similar storylines.

Infamous while has the "moral" choice it is pretty useless with really only one skill being affected. Being super evil though is cool.

Prototype....well I had huge dissapontment from the beginning because we were getting a skill "shapeshifting" where we can only shapeshift into these designated things..and well only your arms......so consume and become.....anything that is human only.....

But in saying this I do love both of these games.

Prototype has sort of a very weird and philosophical undergrowth that Infamous is lacking.

Think of this for a few minutes. You can absorb people. You absorb their DNA, their memories, their appearance, their whole being. They don't outright die, on the contrary they become part of you. It just has this creepy sense about it that has me intrigued.

It has the POSSIBILITY of being awesome. One second you can be smashing tanks together like toy cars and slicing people up only to leap into the sky and disappear while your enemies are blinded by the sun. You land in a back alley with a lone homeless guy and you absorb him and walk out into the streets like nothing happened begging for some coins while tanks roll around in a frantic search.

Now if they can pull this of Prototype has the potential of being My game of 2009 although Empire TW might take that spot if it is as good as the trailers show.

Infamous however focusses on the whole Good or Evil thing, something that has been worn down to a stump already. Do I wanna blow up all the people or just the thugs is an idea that has travelled to my mind countless times yet Prototype offers me a different choise.

'How evil do I want to become?'

This is a question that has not yet been asked of gamers or at least not this bluntly. There is no good or evil. Everything is bad but will you be a punisher stricking down only those that do harm or will everyone feel your wrath.
So overused good, evil system is replaced by overused good/neutral/evil system without the good option?

I think Prototype does it better, whereas inFamous forces you to be good or evil, as you play through Prototypes story you see this moral ambiguity. I mean, your character is kindof a hero, but then again he's also very much a sociopathic crazy in his own right.

The gameplay in Prototype is very satisfying, its like a combination of Saints Row, Hulk Ultimate Destruction, Spiderman 2, and God of War. The parkour is INSANELY satisfying, body surfing, gliding from rooftop to rooftop, running up the side of a building, its all so satisfying. With that being said though, inFamous was the first, and is still the only PS3 exclusive that has appealed to be. I'll be honest though, Prototype will sell better, its multi-platform against a console exclusive.

I'll close with this, its apples and oranges, Prototype isn't really you're traditional hero game, whereas inFamous is. They've both got good reviews, and i'm sure inFamous is a good game, and I know Prototype is a good game. My opinion is? If you have a PS3, get both. If you don't have a PS3, you still owe it to yourself to play Prototype.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Prototype has a PC version so it's superior by default to inFamous as far as I'm concerned.

No it's just totally removed, moral choice is just a joke anyway, because a human has 443 DISTINCT AND DIFFERENT EMOTIONS THAT ARE KNOW TO SCIENTISTS.

These emotions have all been mapped during the course of many years of psych studies and so on. This is just what we know now maybe in ten years there are 600 emotions.

But this is only to prove my point that moral choice is STUPID AND IMPOSSIBLE. A human can approach a problem with 443 different options and different combos that makes it (443!)= INCALCULABLE. Or in other words a calculator couldn't calculate the amount of possibilities so how are we going to program them all when we make choices in games?

It might be done by 2265 but not any time soon. Thus moral choices serve only to annoy me and I am glad Prototype just ask you "Would you like to kill these innocent helpless civilians now or later?" No morality they are just there happening to run in front of a tank I threw at em.

Prototype sounds much more interesting. Safe Shifting, memory absorption, a war in a huge free city between mutants and the military(with you in the middle).

Infamous, on the other hand has......Lighting powers and a moral choice system. I just can't get excited about lighting powers anymore. Unless you can turn the largest tower in the city into a lighting rod to fry half the city at once(Like Red Alert 2 did), I don't care.

As for a moral choice system, it's been done, and most of the time, not that well. Yathzee hit the nail on the fucking head. Some moral ambiguity PLEASE! Not just a choice between goody goody and DIE! Situations where neither choice is purely good or evil, perhaps where you have to do something rather unethical to help the lesser of two evils and the ethical choice would allow the greater of the evils to suceed.

Both are unquestionably excellent games, but I have to give the nudge to Prototype. The movement is so much more fluid, combat is more interesting and the gameplay is a bit more varied than inFamous.

I think the reason people feel the need to compare the two is because one is an exclusive. Of course Prototype is going to sell better. More people own 360s and PS3 owners are just as likely to pick it up.

I bought both of them and I find it hard to compare the two. inFamous kept me entertained with its story and missions. Whereas Prototypes story was also very interesting, only the main story missions really entertained me. The side missions were mostly boring garbage. But the combat made up for that.

As for the morality system, it's much harder to be good and I like a challenge.

If you have a PS3, buy them both.

They are similar, but also very different. For story, I think inFamous wins, as the good/evil choices add variety, as well as change the gameplay and story. However, for combat, Prototype takes the lead. This leads to another point about combat. Infamous has a variety of powers for both melee and ranged attacks, but electricity doesn't allow any guns or vehicles. Prototype only has one ranged attack and only accounts for military vehicles. As I said, infamous has far better storyline and characters, but Prototype has better combat. Another point, infamous will have a sequel, but there are no plans for a prototype 2

Lol @ 2 year necro

Anyways imo InFamous has a better storyline but protype is much more fun mainly because of alex's abilities, infamous kinda gets boring and i felt like the missions were there to advance the story and most of em felt repetitive and dull to me.
