I played them both, and I liked them both. But I have to say I liked inFamous more.

PROTOTYPE. It had a great story that was fun to unviel, awesome combat, brutality eternal, epic boss battles, gliding is the best way I have seen to get around in a sand box short of being Spider-man, it had some great twists, the threat felt real, and Alex Mercer is just so hateable that he is likeable. Plus, look at this:

That just sings badass.

EDIT:

And the shield is awesome fun. WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Prototype was ridiculous as a sandbox game. As it happens, making the main character horrifically overpowered actually turned out to be okay in that game, thanks to the free roam and "dick around" potential.

Infamous was better as a balanced, challenging game with a strong story though. I'd rather go through Infamous' story again than deal with convoluted, overly secretive conspiracy theory that is Prototype's story.

Also, Infamous didn't nuke Manhattan every time I widdled the final boss to half HP and then lost three minutes.

meh I prefer Prototypes darker and narmier atmosphere, and killing 30+ zombies walking down the street is awesome stress relief

Tried to get into Prototype a few times but I just did not like it at all. Infamous is much much better.

Prototype was fun at first, but the meh storyline, sometimes complex controls and the spike in difficulty put me off quite a bit. It does have more free roam fun though thanks to the better powers.

Ultimately, however, I like Infamous a lot better. The story actually drew me in, the gameplay was fluid and fun all the time, and at the end I was literally like "Dude, holy shit!". The only bad part I found was sometimes the difficulty was annoying due to enemies perfect aim. I hope that is fixed somehow in 2.

NO NO NO. Not this again. I thought we settled threads like this the last time. Look. the dude from prototype looked the best in women's clothing so he's the better game.

Currently looking for a cheal version of Infamous to paly since my brotehr got a PS3 for christmas. I find it ridiculous that PS3 hits are $30 rather than the usual $20.

I've only played Prototype. I'd love to try out InFamous, but i don't own a console.
SO, I'm voting for Proto. I liked it ,it was crazy, but fun.
Though yes, i did like the review Yahtzee did on those two, and how even the developers sent pictures of the opposing main characters to Yahtzee.
Awesome stuff indeed.

Infamous = Storyline
Prototype = Gameplay

If you haven't the patience for a boring experience with a dreadful storyline, stick with Infamous.

Oh, but wait! I almost forgot to mention Crackdown. Pretty fun game, I'd stick with it since it still has all of the sandbox styled, fast paced action.

I preferred Infamous. I won't go much too into it, but suffice to say, Alex Mercer is one unimaginative sorry son of a *****. To me, he'll always be the GREEN LANTERN of anti-heroes. Infinite possibilities, and yet he chooses GIANT FISTS and EXTENDO ARMS.

I haven't played InFamous because I don't have a PS3, but I think I sort of enjoyed Prototype. It was great fun at times, and an utter mess at others.

It has some subtle but serious flaws that stopped it being awesome, but I'm hoping the sequel will learn from its predecessor.

Also fuck that final boss and its time limit, damn.

I thought Prototype was awful. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it. inFamous on the other hand was great, much better in my opinion.
Completely agreed.

You know why? Progression.

Alex's progression was quick to start and you stayed at the same level for the rest of the game, thereby making it boring.

Cole progressed throughout the whole game and you were constantly finding yourself in new areas, and with a new ability or two.

Honestly, Infamous was well made. Prototype was not.

Haven't played Infamous, but I thought Prototype was a good game, but it could of used some more polish.

played both, thought infamous was better designed and better balanced, although i had a lot of fun monster rampaging in prototype. thats why i hope prototype gets a sequel, so they can fix what didn't work.

It hasn't. I haven't seen an open world game with a karma system and a super hero protagonist. Have you?
