Bloody hell, SimuLord, your wife sounds like my mother.
Except I can not judge her appearance, of course...
my mother's, that is.
My mother's reply when my dad brings up anything he's decently knowledgeable in is "what, are you some kind of expert".

Anyway, I find that I like to learn stuff if I need to or I think I may need to for the foreseeable future.
Sometimes I learn stuff by accident when reading books, though that shouldn't surprise me.

Extremely curious, I just can't focus on 1 subject, there is just too much interesting stuff to learn about. Hence why I end up knowing random facts about a lot of subjects, a jack of all trades.

I too cannot understand why people just act with such disinterest when confronted with something new. There is such a massive universe out there, how everything in it can leave a person totally unmoved is beyond my comprehension.

Focused myself. I generally lean more towards techy subjects. Computers, electronics, new gadgets, etc... All too often I tend to bore my listeners with my inane jabbering about how irritating it is that my video cards pull 26 Amps each across the 12V rails of my PSU and that I had to purchase a new one because my previous PSU didn't even have 50. I feel lonely...

I love learning, though not necessarily about anything and everything - your poll doesn't really have the option I need (somewhere between mono-maniacally focused on one subject and attempting to learn everything that exists).

Learning as much as I can make me have to learn more and I enjoy that. I mostly focus on Biology but I'm trying to increase my Chemistry knowledge.

I love knowledge, and I love learning, but I still suck in school cause the teacher and books make everything as boring as hell.

I agree with those who said "if its in my field of interest". In truth I would love to learn everything but there is so little time to master all the arts. Only a handful can do it with ease. *coughStephenFrycough*

I'm an eternal student. The growing trend (or perhaps ever-increasing decibel level of their collective voice?) of anti-intellectualism and apathy is disturbing to me.

I like to learn about a lot of things, but I *imagine* that one's ability to learn and retain knowledge isn't infinite and almighty, so I really tend to avoid things I have no interest at all (like, say, botanics.) to "save space" (and time, wich is a more pressing matter)to all other intersting things.

I think this quote pretty much sums up how I feel.

"Knowledge is power, guard it well."
That's from Dawn of War, ammi rite? Dark Crusade, I think.

I spend hours upon hours on TvTropes whenever I happen to pass by it. Make of that what you will.

I'm not that curious, however if their is something that I want to know, then I would travel through hell if I have to just to find the answer.
