Do you ever find yourself aimlessly surfing the net with no real destination or purpose in mind, only occasionally posting in a forum, but find some of the topics to be repetitive or member exclusive(I.E. your apprehensive to post in a particular thread since it seems only certain members talk to each other)?

You're talking about my popularity thread aren't you?

Because you're not cool enough to post in there. Leave.

Just kidding. =)

after writing that I kind of knew someone would point that out, I'm not saying they're a bad thing but I've always found it kind of intimidating to post in certain threads because it seems that you have to have been here for a while before posting in it, but I guess that's just me.

Most definately, I have a few forums I frequent (About 5 to be exact), and every now and again, they become 'dead', leaving me with only a handful of sites, that I can really go to that update at different times to get some 'content' so to speak. You can only play video games soo long, ya know. (Plus MMORPG chat has de-evolved into a wanker spam fest.)

Hell I've only been here a bit more than a month, I was a bit intimidated by "the big guns" at first too. But if you're not constantly spouting inflamitory comments you should be accepted pretty quickly. The more you post the more we get to know you (in a sense)

But to answer your original question:
No, I don't get bored, the escapist alone keeps me pretty entertained.

No that's an intentional feeling in some places. I spend time on a lot of private forums (the escapist and the bolterandchainsword are examples of the few forums where I am in public) and we deliberately foster that feeling of selectivity so that we can control what sort of... intelligence we let in.

If you're bored, I highly recommend 4chan. Whenever I'm having a boring day I go there and I realise I should stop complaining about being bored and just be happy that I don't have to work 18 hours a day to survive.

:D

(Yes that came off like I was a prick, No it wasn't meant to)

Cheers

Gits

I'm going to add an extra part to my original question,
at the times when you do find yourself bored with most of the internet what do you do to take some of the boredom away?

I thought you were here longer as you have way more posts than me. =/

That's just you. Or, wasn't the case for me, at least. I was a little intimidated at first, but I'm glad I took the plunge. Especially since I was pretty universally recognized for my posts on the Cockney thread. Which, in retrospect, I find myself talking about a lot. Since we are talking about my history though, it's nearly unavoidable.

This forum, and looking up/downloading/playing freeware games. It's how I tripped over Cave Story, which has to be one of my favorite games, and it's lead me to trying to download System Shock 2, to finding out it's not Abandonware, to buying System Shock 2, which has become my current obsession.

Also, the flash game flOw, which is a lot of fun. And kinda like playing a trippy, music version of the cell stage of Spore. (Which Spore very likely ripped off, as Yahtzee seems to suggest.)

Otherwise, I'm back on the Escapist, talking and posting in various threads. Or writing a review.

I used to be a very prolific poster, on a different forum I got more than 2000 posts in less then three weeks(although I can count most of those because of the forum game section).

Edit:
I guess most people saw this thread as "I'm sad that no one automatically wanted to be my friend as soon as I joined this site" (and if that's not the case, well ok, I'm not very good at reading people)
most likely I should have left that last part out of my original post so people wouldn't have misconstrued my point, I was just bored and wanted to see if other get this way as well.

I would get bored with the Internet if i had the time to get on it. I get up at 7:00 am and get home at 7:00 pm from work then a pile of BS till about ten then i'm on till one lol and when basketball season starts i won't be home till 11:00 thats not enough time to get bored. Plus there's always Youtube to make me laugh.

Boredom sent me to Mensa. Boredom sent me to Escapist. Boredom sent me to RavenBlack. Boredom sent me to Edge.

Since then, it's been pretty good. And I can always find things to ***** about outside of it.

I have a net admin job, which means I get lots of downtime, but always in small chunks. Ten minutes here, fifteen there. Not really enough time to do anything but hit up a few websites. And yes, the web does get quite dull somedays. Depends on how interesting you guys are being that day.

Also, I've decided to rise to Mobius' challenge that I will never have a better avatar than the Custer's Revenge one.

...although thinking about it now, this avatar might get me in trouble. Hm... we'll see if anyone asks me to change it.
