As OP, I feel like I should add something more to this discussion (mainly due to arguements between certain users).
First of all (a phrase I have taken to overusing on here but meh), I'm not too worried about what anyone says. If you want to sit in judgement above others, then that's up to you. Just wait until suddenly you're stuck in an awkward situation, and then you have nowhere to turn cos you've already made some pretty strong points.
Secondly, I agree with solidstatemind (another annoying habit of mine, sitting on the fence and agreeing with both sides), that if someone is offended by a post they have a right to air their view even if the OP hasn't objected.
And finally, this was only started as a theoretical discussion, just looking for people's varing opinions. I'm almost 19, single, stuck in rural Gloucestershire with no friends and no chances of meeting anyone my own age other than people I knew at school. And due to certain mental health problems, I doubt any of them are going to get friendly anytime soon. I was therefore looking to see whether other people thought internet relationships were okay, on the basis that it will probably be my only way of getting any interest.
PS (due to the use of the word finally) I apologise that this has turned into an essay. If you have bothered reading this far, congratulations.
