yeah thats the most annoying part of the ipod touch.meganmeave said:Yes they do. And this one really has a lot of nice features that the iPad doesn't. For one, Flash will work on it.Ph33nix said:lenovo makes some pretty nice laptops/netbooksmeganmeave said:The big deal is that it is made by Apple. Apparently that's enough of a selling point to make it a big deal these days.
A friend of mine who has a serious case of tech lust showed me this other product which I actually found more interesting. The Lenovo IdeaPad U1.![]()

It's just a cheap tablet PC with poor software, no stylus, no pressure sensitivity and extremely limited connectivity.
It could have done hundreds of things I wanted, like being a plug in touch screen for a PC, undercutting similar systems from Wacom by about £500. But it's not, it's an iPhone missing some important features and gaining nothing but screen size.
It'll sell because people are stupid and listen to the adverts/hype/hipsters without finding out for themselves. Just like every other Mac product (except the professional workstation Macs, they're pretty damn good actually).
I know I'm not. I've already got an iPhone; why would I want one that I can't even fit in my pocket?sirdanrhodes said:Who gives a shit? The Apple fanboys will flock to it like it's the second coming anyway...

It's wasn't meant to be a joke...It was meant to annoy people...It's seems I did a job well done.

The iPad uses an SoC (system on a chip) combining an ARM CPU and a PowerVR GPU. Not only is this not an Intel Atom, comparing the two isn't particularly meaningful. The PowerVR GPU is also pretty capable.Ph33nix said:What the hell is the big deal? you need to have an additional computer to actually use it. It has a puny 64 gb hard drive at a cost of $700 for the wifi only and $829 for the 3g one. It has a crappy intel atom processor and no real gpu to speak off. Right now I am running a laptop i bought for $800 that can run 90% of games out there. Also the Ipad os is literally the same as the iphones. SO i just don;t get why anyone would want it. could someone explain this to me, what makes it the quote "god device" as apple is trying to tell me
Horticulture said:In my mind, the most appealing feature of the iPad is that it isn't a notebook or tablet PC replacement. Rather than running a fully-featured OS, it has a UI that takes advantage of the strengths of a touch/gesture input scheme. The lack of Flash support and multitasking are disappointing, and the perennially restrictive app store is annoying, but the iPad still fills a certain niche.
As a device for consuming content (reading, browsing, watching video) and managing email, IM, and social networking, it seems to make a lot of sense. It doesn't suffer from the low resolution of most netbooks which makes browsing a nuisance, early reviews agree that it has a fantastic screen and good battery life, and the larger form factor than an iPhone/iTouch open a lot of doors for innovative and useful apps. Whether the iPad (or similar tablets) can gain the market penetration and developer support needed to realize this potential remains to be seen, but I could see myself buying such a device to replace my netbook a year or so down the line.
