Well I know this isn't released in the US yet but from the few people that have it I have heard the game is amazing.

To my questions :

Have any Escapists got it and what do they think of it.

Also for those who have not got it/ or are in the US do you plan on getting it.

Im not the "Simulation type" but I am excited about it and I would like to see what you thought.

Added a Poll for Happiness and more clarity.

Uh, um whats the point of a poll if there's only one option?

EDIT: Never mind, and I've never heard of Arma 2.

I have heard that it isnt as complex as people thought it would be but I don't know... Does anyone here have it and can they confirm the complexity?

I kind of preferred the look of OpFlash Dragon Rising to this, but after some game play was shown, it just seemed like another generic FPS to me, so I'm holding out for ArmA II to stick to its guns and be a proper "combat simulator" game thing :D

I loved OpFlash 1, so I'm guessing I'll really get into Arma2. I love the realism and the options it presents. BRING IT ON etc.

It's great fun, although you need a lot of patience to play it properly. However, there are plenty of areas where you can temporarily forget military doctrine and just have mindless fun, with the Armoury and the expansive and excellent mission editor, which gives so much potential that it's difficult to describe.
Since you already have the game, I wanted to ask if the friendly AI has improved since the first one. (like do your squaddies still charge T-72s?)

As a big fan of Bohemia Interactive's games, I obviously bought the game at the soonest opportunity. The game's a lot slicker than its predecessor, and has improved in several key areas, but you need one hell of a hefty system to run it properly.

With ArmA 2, you're talking about a game with almost unrivalled sandbox freedom, thanks to that excellent mission editor, a great backbone complete with the new modules allowing things like artillery support and ambient life and a committed community of modders and mission designers. You're also talking about a game that could simultaneously be used as a military simulator for real militaries and a tractor-racing game. No other games designer's going to give you that freedom.
Thanks for the info. I think im buying

So far, all the "super-realistic" FPSes I've played involve small numbers of people in servers, with little to no direction, usually involving you getting killed out of nowhere quite a lot. I'd get into it if I had some better concept of how things work, or at least, how they're SUPPOSED to work.

Looks very interesting. I was amazed by the youtube videos of aircraft destroying tanks... cutscene worthy combat during actual gameplay! I'll try the demo but I'll probably get the game.

It takes some getting used to, but once you get the feel for the game, objectives, stratagies, tactics, and communication all become second nature.

The warfare mode that the game ships with usually attracts far larger numbers of people than you are used to. I've played a game (ArmA I) with at least 60 people on a server, and the best part was that they were all working together quite well!

ArmA II will most likely be unlike any other super-realistic FPS you've played before, and from what I have seen, it has come together quite well!

Is Arma 2 really all of these things out-of-the-box? I also loved Bohemia's past games, and everyting you say is true -- eventually. Without the fantastic community (fan made patches and modding, that sort of thing), their previous games were pretty much unplayable for me. Bohemia gives the community the tools to make the game amazing, but this takes time.

I was planning on getting Arma 2 in a few weeks/months when the bugs are addresed, now I'm not so sure if I should wait, or if I should just get it off Steam now. Maybe you should write a review of it, eh RAK?

I'm defiantly thinking of buying it, I might just wait a while for the price to go down though. But other than that I think I'll really enjoy playing it!

I have the game, but I uninstalled it. In ARMA 2 you just run through the forest for 10 minutes, get to a village, spot 4 enemies, kill them from 30 meters, maybe rescue someone, get hit in the leg, fall down and wait 5 minutes for the medic, run to the next village. I consider it...what's the word? Boring.
I don't know, maybe I'll give it another shot.
