Now let me get this clear. I am a achievement whore, and sometime I enlist the help of my Xbox Live friends so we can get through some of the online achievements much quicker. I do not hack or glitch achievements!

But is it wrong to boost achievements?

I do it but sometime it feels like I'm playing these games for something more than fun, which is what games should be all about.

Opinions?

Umm...Boosting is not wrong, your achievement score affects nobody first off. Secondly, if you are getting more out of games than just fun, more power to you.

boosting for some of the annoying achievements like... zombie genocide on L4D is ok and stuff like that

but on a mass scale is poor play

If no one plays online or the online trophies are absurd then yes it's ok(see FEAR2). But if lots of people play and they're somewhat challenging then no. Also I hate the trophies that make you play for a set number of time.

As long as you don't get that quick 1000 from avatar the last airbender than your not cheating lol
I know, admittedly i have rented games with an easy 1000G on it like lost, but i would never rent avatar! I would be embarrased to have it on my profile!

Depends on what you mean by boosting. when I hear boosting I think of a secret Skul King technique that allows for rapid growth in CoD4. Okay so It's not all that secret but if you think it's the cage match glitch your wrong, they fixed that already. Also Skul King is supposed to be spelled like that, an old clan of mine from days long past.

In any case I never saw anything wrong with boosting in my terms, I always saw it as speeding up the process of ranking up or completing challenges, some of my friends used it as a way to finish weapon challenges like the P90 or other guns they deemed to cheap to use in a real game.

When i think of boosting i always think of the 'flip the Humvee and repair it forever' trick in BF: Bad Company. That pissed me off, it ruined the legitimacy of the leaderboards, and effectively took members away from your team, BUT, it was real fun to fly in with the chopper and blow em to hell.

Yes and no, if you feel the need to cheat in a video game so you can have a higher achievement score then you probably need to do so for your own self esteem.

I completely agree, and with my ego, it's nice to have a number next to it, the higher the better!

I think for some games it has become more acceptable than others. Like, in World of Warcraft - people boost each other through instances all the time. Though, I do not believe that makes it right, I think that levelling yourself to the highest level will be a lot more rewarding instead of being pushed all the way by a high level character.

Though in games like Left for Dead or something like that, I'm not too sure as I've not played them and do not own an Xbox.. :)
