I didn't like Oracle of Ages much, but liked Oracle of Seasons. The ring system was cool and also a bit of a chore, and I wonder what might have been if they had actually pulled off the third game they had planned.
Minish Cap I also didn't like. A giant Slime was used as a boss 2 times and neither was that thrilling. Also, to get the final piece of heart you need to have already beaten the game so you can complete the figurine collection. Why would you even need it at that point? And who thought it would be fun to put in that vending machine in the first place? I'll admit it was slightly less of a pain than getting all the photos in Wind Waker, but I still prefer Wind Waker. And I don't consider Wind Waker to be that great to begin with.
My favorite Zelda games are Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening, and A Link to the Past.
Tier 2 would be Zelda 1, Zelda 2, Oracle of Seasons, Spirit Tracks, and Skyward Sword
Tier 3 is Phantom Hourglass, Twilight Princess, Oracle of Ages, and Wind Waker
Tier 4 is Ocarina of Time, Four Sword Adventures, and Minish Cap. Plus anything I left out because there are a lot of games in the series.
To those that cry foul at where I put Ocarina: At one point I liked OoT, but I just burned myself out on it and loved MM waaaaaay more and have never wanted to go back to it since.
I played Okami once, and it was beautiful and surprisingly lengthy. I think I got every side thing except for ONE bead from the final stone thingy where you need to poke it in the precise spots in the precise order in like 4 seconds. I even had a friend help with the memorizing of the sequences and we failed over and over v_v
So no, I don't think Capcom makes better Zelda games, but Nintendo isn't exactly knocking them out of the park either.
The best Zelda games I've played were fan made quests on Zelda Classic, primarily by DarkFlameWolf. If I wasn't 87% sure that Zelda Classic and/or some of the quests I downloaded directly killed the pc I had at the time I would definitely still be playing them.
Sixteen-headed Gleeocks that spew room-filling waves of fire, and Deathknights that combine Darknuts with hyper speed and ridiculous attack power are sorely lacking from legitimate Zelda Games.
