My biggest gripe comes from the heavy handed political edge (see Brian's random diatribes) the show tries to deliver that is better accomplished through satire of the aforementioned shows.
Same here, also with making Stewie gay. Seriously a gay 3 year old is just a bit messed up...
All of season 7 sucked for me it was just political commentary which Family Guy had a couple times before but it was less biased and funny. But McCain Nazi badge, legalize weed and how weed laws were bought buy paper corporations was retarded. Though I can appreciate the Star Wars parodies (Blue Harvest is the best of the two though), I feel Quagmire's rant at Brian in a recent episode really had me out of my chair because it summarized my feeling over the last two years.

No, Family Guy is not going downhill, it's at the bottom of the other side. It's been going downhill ever since it got put back on the air.
This is basically my view on it too. The first three seasons are much more clever and satirical than anything they've done since they got back on the air. Dan Povenmire's departure is a big part of the change. Things went from sometimes crass but usually kind of silly and witty, to just being about gross-out gags and stupid Conway Twitty.
Not to mention that so many of its episodes are nothing more than giant liberal soapboxes. I think Seth McFarlan just got a big head when they brought the show back. He seemed to get this idea that since he was so important that he had to be back on the air, he had to make his show all about pushing his opinions on the viewers.

And really, even if you could overlook that, the show's just running out of ideas. It happens to any show that goes on for a long time.

I've watched an episode today. It was pretty "meh".

Although, there was 4 times I said to myself: That joke was racist/sexist...

I thought it was the general consensus that television as a whole is circling the drain.

Hold on a minute. Going downhill? Has it ever been at the peak of excellence in TV shows? No. It's humor just revolves around interchangeable flashback-jokes and it's really just getting worse than bad.

The jokes are getting really old.

I mean, seriously, it's always like "This is just like the time I 'enter verb' with 'enter name'"

So, yes. It's going downhill.

My opinion of it is that it's sometimes hilarious, and sometimes not only so dull I'm not interested, but also maing me wonder what the deuce the point was supposed to be. Itäs a show that goes from really funny to completely pointless more times than I can count every episode.

It has been going a little south of late, barely watched any of the newer episodes or seasons.
But as long as they keep it going to do the Return of the Jedi spoof, then that'll be worth it
