Haven't played DarkRP, but I have been playing Trouble in Terrorist Town a fair bit recently.
Immensely simplified 20ish people running around a map, 5ish are traitors, they have to kill everyone without everyone else finding out who they are and killing them first.
There are also detectives who get things like DNA scanners and the traitors can buy bombs/special equipment.
It's strange trying to work out who killed who, and running up to a gunfight not knowing who to shoot, being able to lie to people works wonders.
There is also Deathrun, a group of people have to run across a course made of traps whilst 2 people dressed as death press the buttons to the traps. If you make it across you get to fight death, and win, or die and the death people win.
I'm looking for other gamemodes to play, might give DarkRP a go. Just seemed a bit serious for my liking.
The Escapist Gmod server has a pirate ship gamemode on it at the moment, where two teams have to drive a boat towards each other (usually full pelt directly at each other) and sink the other ship. The ships have cannons and if you die you spawn below deck, you're also armed with pirate weapons like swords. Haven't got enough people on at once to fill it yet (40 man server) but it will be epic when it happens.
But Garry's Mod is very much worth it, plus when you get the Orange Box on PC you'll get TF2 as well, just so much you can do with it.
