Yeah, you can keep moving around between shots/kills.

You can go no-scope and use your sniper as a close range shotgun, at least in some games.

You can quick-scope, and use it as any semi-auto/manual (depending on sniper) rifle with hefty damage if you're skilled enough.
Quick scoping takes skill? That's a new one. I didn't know being a douche bag was a skill now.
Didn' say it required huge amount of skill or anything, i just find a normal shotgun for insatnce a lot easier to kill with.

Dunno why its a douchebag move either, it's game mechanics, just like camping, insta-kill melee, rushing and all the other stuff people whine about when they loose/get's kileld to it.

I would think so. Most games have multiple high points in levels. If you travel between those high points throughout the game, I wouldn't consider that cheating. You would have to go into the heat of battle at least a few times, so it's not like you are cowering in fear the whole time.

Here's the difference though, a real sniper has an entire world (within the view of his/her scope) to snipe from, whereas in a game you've only got the space of the map to snipe from. It means that your potential sniping points are much more limited than an actual sniper. That doesn't mean it's not possible to avoid camping while playing a sniping class, but it does kind of make that particular argument invalid.
Right, and besides that, IRL Sniping is a two-men-job. Lets take MW2 as an example, you would use your .cal 50 M82 on a range your target would have no chance of getting you (except for sniping aswell) and you would get rid of your target easier. I mean, you wouldn't need a headshot to one-shot-kill somebody. A .50BMG would kill the target, even if you only hit the arm anyway.
So games aren't compareable to RL. At least not until we get a game, with graphics like Crysis and large open environments like Borderlands, where you could shoot enemies from a distance, they wouldn't even try to come to/shoot you.
It's called ArmA II & its expansion Operation Arrowhead, have a look:

It is although it's alot harder. I'm not very good at it myself although a friend of mine is. I've watched him stand out in the open and take shots at people then keep moving. :)

So long as you are high enough, have a good vantage point, and hidden well, then yes. But if your out in the open, no. Never.

Shoot n' scoot. That's how it works. Or,if you're feeling really ballsy, shoot while scooting. Aim high, and master this majestic weapon to the point of game-breaking.

Fire and move - what you should be doing in any game regardless

Camping can be a problem but if you've been there too long players will know where to use their explosives

I think it is, because in real sniping, you fire one shot and move, as opposed to firing several shots and staying where you are.
Real sniping is rarely about being on the move, its about staying hidden and moving kinda ruins that.

Snipers IRL rarely go into action without a spotter, at least in present day.

My proof? Look at ghillie-suits. Big and fluffy, easy to spot if moving and makes noise when shaken.
Also, take a look at Simo Häyhä (nicknamed "White Death"), the worlds most successful sniper.
During the Finnish-soviet war in 1939?1940, this Finn attained the highest recorded number of confirmed kills in any war. 705 confirmed kills, but later estimations puts it to be over 800.

He did this by wearing his all-white suit, which blended in with the snow and then digged in.
One of his tactics was to compress the snow around him so it wouldn't move.
This lump of human-shaped epicness survived counter-snipers, tanks and artillery bombardment, specifically meant for him, and he was finally stopped March 6, 1940 when some lucky ruski managed to shoot him in the head.
He regained consciousness March 13.

Erhm... Where was I going with this?.. Oh... Ya! I remember!..
If anyone can be called a IRL sniper, its this guy... And he was the greatest camper of all time!

Off topic: I find the main problem with sniping in games is that it is hardly an appropriate tactic when in Real Life, the distances being shot from could and SHOULD be able to hit with a standard rifle.

Spawn camping is the only form of camping. I hate the fucking idiots who use the term camp wrong.

If you're holding a position at a clutch point; or you're in a great sniping position: You're just in position! The whinefucks can deal with it.
This.

Yeah, but it is a good idea to not make laps around the map like infantry. Ideally a sniper will make much slower laps. But ultimatley you will probably be in the same areas for extended periods of time. Just maybe not behind the same barrel or in the same window.
That pretty much sums it up. You would only do that if you were a bit slow :L

As already said, shoot, move, shoot, move.

Camping is literally sitting in one position and killing people who pass by, and continuing to sit there until you're killed. It can be so frustrating when there's that one player in that one corner for an entire match. Most times I'll end up avoiding that area of the map.

i said no but i meant kinda camping in exactly the same place is a bad idea but to change your position slightly each time is very effective... in games maps are overplayed alot so there are only a few good sniping spots making it hard not to use them for as long as you can...

Pretty much all points have already been made, but yes, it's totally possible. In fact, it's best, since as people already pointed out, moving around makes it harder to pinpoint you.

In Game turns snipers have many tactics. Staying in one well defended spot poping heads of anyone who comes into range is ok but it is easy to twig onto where you are after a while. Having several spots and going from one to the other is another good tactic.
In the real world it is staying where you are waiting for ever taking a shot to cause mose damage then leg it or you will die whether but gun or artilary.
