I'm not talking about actors, or the movies; This is simply about the games. It's been a LONG time since GoldenEye and since then, we've gotten a lot of average to awful James Bond titles that continue to fail at recapturing magic of the 1997 legendary game. At some point, publishers have to realize that it's not going to happen again. Not in the FPS genre at least.
Bond is so much more than just a gun on a screen. He has such an iconic personality, he's smooth, arrogant, intelligent, and dangerous. So much of this is never displayed in the video games because they're so focused on being high-action packed shoot'em ups with waves upon waves of henchmen. I can't think of a more flawed way of depicting of what it is to 'Be Bond' than basing an entire game around that 10% of the movie.
In my opinion, the best direction for a new 007 game should take the direction of a Mass Effect like experience. You can still have the action there, but much of the game is interaction with the world around you. You can have those card game scenes, the first face-to-face with the villains, swooning the femme fatals etc.
What do you say?
