However, to put it in context, it also isn't a cool, alternative or independent thing to do.
Going on your own is normal. You want to see the movie, the theater is showing the movie so you go watch it. Nothing more to it.
Going with friends who also want to see the movie is positive. You want to see the movie and spend time with your friends, being the smart guy/gal you are you combine the two in one great enjoyable activity. Watching a movie you want to see, sharing it with interested friends and allowing them to share it with you all in one evening!
Going with friends who don't really want to see the movie is just a bit sad. On one hand, that's what friends are for. To help you out when you need it. On the other hand, it means you've still got some growing up to do. It's something that I think you can reasonably expect adults to have grown past by now.
