Hi Folks,

Well, I used to have a DS a while back, then traded it in to get a PSP, which I love, a lot.
(purely for FFVII and crisis core/monster hunter)

However I am now getting serious Pokemon withdrawal simptoms, I still have my Pearl game with about 430ish (as far as I can remember) Pokemon, all the starters, everything.

I figure I could pick up a used/pre-owned DS for £50-60 pounds, and that would be my christmas present to myself. so my question is, should I get a DS? Help me!

Considering the number of quality exclusives, and the upcoming English HeartGold/SoulSilver releases (New pokémanz game!) I'd say yes, it's well worth it.

Oh yes, and if you can get a Flash card, all the better. Seriously, I had one of those (until it got stolen (worst summer ever (WITHDRAWAAAAAAL) and I would get games on release date. SO YES, DO IT!

DS=FUN :)

Hyes, the R4 is a flashcard. So is the M3, the one I used. M3 is better though :D

WEll, if you have played Golden sun on the GBA, then you might also want to know (if you don't already) that there isa Golden Sun DS coming out ... next year I think. So the reason I got a DS (a few days ago for my b'day) is because of Platinum, HeartGold and Golden Sun. I wouldn't have gotten it if I hadn't had at least three games I wanted.

Get Pokemon... then Chrono Trigger DS. Then realise you bought a DS for the few decent games it has.

I got a DS purely for Pokemon. If you're going to get a DS, there a lot of other good games like GTA: Chinatown Wars, Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy, and Pokemon Silver/Gold when they're released on the DS.

Eh, I wasted money on my DS lite.
Most of the exclsuives are shit (When will nintendo give us something besides a Zelda/Mario/Metriod title?)
The only thing I play on it anymore is GH...which I have better version of on consoles.
Ace Attorney? Professor Layton? Pokémon? Advance Wars? Elite Beat Agents?

Well, I was looking at chrono trigger, I made the mistake of buying shit games for the DS when I had it first (brain training, puzzle games ect..) so I think this time if I do get one, I'll have to be a bit wiser with my choice of games, (pokemon, FF games)

P.S I've never been a Mario or Zelda fan at all, so I'm not really fussed about those games.

Ace Attorney, Layton and Elite Beat Agents are all just glorified minigames. Pokemon can go burn in hell for eternity. And I've never played Advanced Wars, I've heard good things about it. Might eventually buy it. Just isnt so many killer exclusives that arnt bunch of minigames or fat plumbers.
In defence of Elite Beat Agents, my friend got a Japenese version of the game that was trippy as hell, that was fun on a lazy Wednesday afternoon haha

Advance Wars is Excellent.
Ace Attorney is fun although too short to warrant the full pricetag but if you see it cheap then go for it.
Layton is not a minigame, if anything its a point n click adventure but rather than having the puzzles in the enironment (eg spend 3 hours using the items in you inventory on absolutely everything trying to find the solution) it cuts away to the puzzle and has a good story, a nice art style and a lot of playtime if you get into it

And while Diamond/pearl may not have been as good as red/blue in the eyes of fanboys, that didnt stop me putting nearly 300 hours into it since its launch. (no suprises whos getting SoulSilver as soon as he has the money)

Also, some puzzle games are good, Meteos is fun and Puyo Pop Fever or whatever its called is great with freinds

Some other games to consider are:
the Final Fantasy remakes
Animal Crossing : Wild World
Starfox Command
Sonic Rush (the only decent sonic game as of late, just stay away from the sequel)
and almost every DS owner needs The World Ends With You

I'd say it is a good buy if you buy a DS, but to buy it for Pokemon... Man, fuck the new generations!

Pokemon games have always been shit in my eyes. I hate turn based combat you see, so fuck the FF remakes aswell.
Im sure there are some great titles out there, I just cant be bothered to look for them. I'd rather spend my cash on PS3 games.
Valkyria Chronicles!

You can't escape the turn-based combat, it's on every system!

.. I guess you could just not buy them, but that would make my comment worthless..

Support developers. Don't be a dang-dirty pirate.
Seconding this. I do own a R4, and love it to death, but every game I have on my card I own the original DS cartridge. The convenience is irreplaceable, but don't forget that Devs need support so they can make more of the games you like.
