here's the deal. i'm currently working in the south of italy, teaching english (tesol). i'm saving all the money i earn to put towards something i want, and, if i have much left over, put towards my flights to Australia.

however, something cropped up which maybe worth considering. one of my flat mates here in italy owns a blackberry, and he uses it all the time. i have started to consider getting one, but i know and have heard that its alot better to go on contract than do a pay as you go thing.

but, still, is it worth the money in my situation, i really need a new laptop too, seeing as the screen on my current one keeps dying on me, flickering, screen slowly turns white etc...

so, give me experiences, idea, is a blackberry worth the money?

I've still got my regular flip phone that everyone makes fun of me for, but I say fuck all these blackberries, blueberries and chuck berries even though he would technically be a blackberry (cookie for the reference)

I don't get the big deal with them. So what they go on the internet, do you really have to have 24/7 access to IMDB?

That depends entirely on you sir. There are alot of things the blackberry is useful for but you have to decide if those applications are necessary for your job/life/whatever.

Personally, i liked it but i didnt need it and i went back to a basic phone with basic phone functions, you know like video streaming, photos, and gaming... oh i can talk on it too.

It's not so much as if it's worth the money. So long as there's people ready to pay that amount of money for whatever contrived reason (mostly it's just bragging rights), developers are going to try and price it as high as possible to earn as much revenue as they can. Supply and demand!
