Well ive just taken a look at my rather small collection of xbox 360 games and ive decided it is probably time to buy a new one. I played the demo of mirrors edge and thought it was amazing but iv'e heard mixed reviews about the full game. Some say its graphically amazing and great fun to play, others say that its way too short.

So i put it to you Escapians, is it worth me going out and buying a copy and will i get my money's worth?

I did a quick search and didn't see a topic like this.

I wouldn't buy it. It is a great game and well worth your effort but its over way to quickly and leaves you without any re-playability. There is the time trial modes but unless you find running the same courses again and again you wont find enjoyment in it.

I would say rent it. I beat it in around eight hours while also going for the Test of Faith achievement (don't use a gun). If you must, buy another game and rent this. But whatever you do, do play it. You will not find anything else like it.

I recommend playing it but I can't really recommend buying it. It's good but rent it if you can. Or maybe find a cheap copy.

It's a good game but it's really only a buy if you're obsessive-compulsive and want to get the best times on time-trial runs.

Otherwise I'd say rent it; you can beat the story in a day.

I heard that the wasn't much re-playability. Isn't there supposed to be some DLC coming out for it?

There are logical complaints against the game. However many of the complaints seem to revolve around the game as an FPS.

The game is much more of a platformer. So long as you keep moving it doesn't really touch on shooting.

Fun gameplay and level design. Visual design was fun. The plot started well enough and progressed, but the ending was a let down.

Bonus: Time Trials

It's a beautiful and fun game from start to finish. The story isn't exactly great but it's something new. The game is quite short but if you intend to do the time trials on 3 stars then it will be a good match for the Witcher in game time...

Yeah the DLC is more Time Trial courses. They are abstract obstacle courses instead of cities.

I enjoyed the game despite its shortcomings. It was actually one of my best game experiences this year. But how much fun you will get out of the game, is depending on if you will suck at it or not (obviously). A promising DLC is coming the 29th this mounth, but depending on how much you liked the game, it has replayability. First you can find the hidden bags, then finish in hard mode, finish without using weapons, try time trials etc.

That DLC is time trial maps, nothing is added to the campaign. If you enjoy the Time Trials then you'll like the DLC but if you don't like time trials then don't worry about the DLC.

I would say rent it and then if you really get a kick out of the time trials consider buying it. That would have to be a pretty big kick though.

Sounds like a plan.

Yea i don't know if i would enjoy the TT bit, if there's achievements to be had then i'll probably attempt them.

Wait for the bargain bin, friend. I've played my brothers copy a bit, and although it is fun, I don't think it's worth the price tag.

That said, if you're, like, HUGE into Time Trials this will be your game of the decade.

I'll be waiting for him to get bored with it so I can borrow it for a few days (he's into time trials at the moment and it lives in his 360).

Rent it, its a completly different type of game to anything out there; I personally didn't like it and was glad I had rented it. The game is fairly repetative, short and boring iuf I'm honest.

No, but it's worth renting

Or at least it ain't worth paying full price for, if you can find it cheap then it may be worth going for.

Rent it, or wait till it's at least 50% off second hand. It's definitely worth playing, but it doesn't offer enough to warrant a full price buy. Unless you have a time-trial fetish.

If you liked the Demo much, buy it.

It may be short, and the story may suck, but if you dig the concept you will find yourself returning to the game over and over again, wanting to play the levels and time trial courses with fluid perfection.

I bought this game first day. beat it 2 days later. i take my time. I had fun though. I'll be honest though. it's not worth 60 bucks. 40, but not 60. the time trials have a lot of replay value. it's always fun trying to figure out ways to get some place. but one of the biggest things it's missing to me is a online multilayer mode. a tag style game would be fun. or a chase. nothing with guns because the aiming mechanics suck, i wont lie. so i'd say either try to find it used or wait a few months for it to drop in price
