Oh god your spelling DX

Also you could say that for any sequel:
Hurr durr Bioshock 2 should have been a DLC

If you don't like it sell it or deal with it.

Also it was just released so of course there are bugs and no mods out, mods TAKE TIME!!!
On one hand, I completely agree with you on everything. On the other hand, I can't help but be amazed at the fact that you joined January of this year and have twenty thousand posts....impressive.

Many games are rip offs. Many sequels are rip offs. I haven't had the chance to play New Vegas yet but it doesn't seem like it should be DLC. It seems too big and it'll have it's own story, you're a different wanderer and there seems to be tons of new enemies and weapons. DLC that big would pretty much cost as much as a game.

Doesn't he mean a rip off as in not worth buying for the price?

You mean a rip off as in not worth buying for the price right?
I don't know how so many people misread misinterpreted your topic if so lol

P.S. Unlocking now (bit later here in Aus)

That's cause you bought the wrong game, obviously the real fallout sequel is FFXIII, they changed so much you'll notice its almost an entirely new game. Infact, they even went ahead and changed the name.

Good luck, hope this helps. =]

I'm gonna get it eventually. I haven't had the opportunity to play it yet but I've seen it being played, and yes there are a bunch of glitches, bugs, and screw-ups in the game. From what I've seen, it will take a lot of patches and downloads to fix it. However I don't think that this is much of a rip off. An expansion is going to be naturally smaller than an original game (such as maps, characters, skills, etc). This is basically another opportunity to see more new toys and gizmos from the original game. I don't think New Vegas is perfect, however I think it's gonna be a fun game.

"And now! At Last! Another game completely different from some of the other games which aren't quite the same as this one is."

A half of an Internets cookie for reference.

I bought it on steam and can start playing it in a day or so. Silly thread is silly.

I'd hope you aren't being serious. FFXIII is as linear as Final Fantasy games come, and has no character customization. Not even close to a decent Fallout game.
Not even in the slightest, I'm just somewhat frustrated with this thread, probably because it reminds me of the people who bitched that Starcraft 2 was more of an expansion than a sequel.

I actually hadn't planned on buying FO:NV due to a combination of general disappointment with FO3's story and Obsidian's track record of woefully broken games. I ended up receiving the collector's edition as a gift, though, and am I ever glad I did!

New Vegas actually has heart and complexity in ways I didn't dare hope. The simplistic good/evil karma has been replaced by regional reputation. The combat is more engaging than FO3's thanks to aim-down-sights and differing armor/ammo combinations. Skills other than combat are actually useful on a regular basis (even speech). The story is morally ambiguous and engaging rather than resembling something a sixth grader could write. I could go on and on...

OP:

-I'm not sure if you're trolling or what, but the game map is actually larger than FO3's. Further, the main storyline takes longer to complete than FO3's, and the side-quests are actually more story driven.

-The game engine is the same, yes, but that's not particularly uncommon for a sequel. Mods will be made, I assure you. I'm not sure how the lack thereof at this juncture is relevant.

-There are quite a few little bugs in the game, such as clipping issues and funky AI pathing, but I haven't encountered anything game-breaking yet. It's really in the nature of free-roam games to have buggy starts, and patches will come.

-Liberty Prime may not be in the game, but in my opinion it was just a poor deus ex machina to cap off an utterly laughable storyline. New Vegas has some pretty epic moments as well, anyway.

No. Just no. Nothing is a rip off of anything.

The map is smaller, big whoop, I bet it isn't noticeable.

Of course, it's a Bethesda engine they are using, I believe. And Obsidian have the reputation for making buggy games as well. It would also explain why it feels like it's basically F3

It's only just come out, give them a bloody chance.

And Liberty Prime was a load of shit in Fallout 3 in my eyes. [footnote]*Hides in Vault*[/footnote]

And also that. Nearly every sequel is an expansion pack to me.

OH MY GOD THEY'RE THE SAME GAME EXACTLY! HOW DID I NOT NOTICE TILL NOW! HOW CREATIVELY BANKRUPT AND LAZY!

For serious though, I think the premise of this thread deserves a nice round of /facepalm.

It's a sequel. Isn't it supposed to be somewhat similar?
Peteron said:
It is not a ripoff. It is made from the same company for the same series. You don't even deserve the title of fan if you go around insulting a Fallout game. And in case you didn't realize, the map is a very similar size to its predecessor. You honestly didn't even try to put of a valid argument. Next time you want to complain about something, get a real reason.
Legion said:
If it were a rip-off then the story and characters would be similar and it'd be set in a similar location.

All characters are new.
The location is entirely different.
The story is entirely different.

Oh, and the map size is the same as Fallout 3's, we were told that before it was even released.

Nothing is a rip off in Fallout 3, except you can say Fallout 3 ripped off of Fallout 2 cause they are totally different games, but use the same idea.

I.E. theirs not enough new content to warrant 60 bucks

Are you nine? Your spelling and grammar is horrible.

OT: Just because the map is smaller doesn't mean it's a rip off. That's just blatant nit-picking. Also, Liberty Prime isn't in New Vegas.

I like it. Seems a true sequel from Fallout 3, love the 9mm pistol, fan-freaking-tasticly better intro sequence then F3 (that first like 20mins was torture), and Im really digging the reputation system....

But I have one complaint, almost a deal breaker in my book...close anyway. Im pining for some THREE DOG and gnr, loved that dj and his music. cant stand the crap on this game. Personally since it is Vegas there should have been a crooner station (one they have comes close, but not close enough for me) and the other should be a 60s-early 70s hippie station with a dj named Raoul....just my opinion anyway

He's posting this for attention, the question is loaded and it's just an excuse to get his opinion out. Fine, except his opinion is meaningless if this thread is the only thing he has ever created.
Why does he make a list of negatives? because those are the reasons why he feels it is not worth 60 bucks, you don't have to agree with his reasons but the question remains. Hell even i think he gives bad reasons.

Translation: Is all the new content worth the 60 dollar price tag?

I'm not even going over how ignorant that sentence is...

I'm not sure if anyone has said this yet, but I think he meant "rip-off" to refer to the price of the game, not to New Vegas "ripping off" Fallout 3.

Either way he is wrong, so the poll results should remain unchanged. :p

Wow, I didn't realize there were so many ninjas here...
I haven't gotten New Vegas yet simply because I haven't had time, and I'm not allowed to play any games right now. I've seen some gameplay, and while I agree it looks very similar and has bugs, that isn't very much of a problem. There are a ton of new features and the incredible similarity will just add to the nostalgia.

Steam is currently downloading it for me, so I will have to wait and see, but I would like to see some more innovation, which from what I have seen will not be present, but I'm not going to judge it quite yet.

So I'm about 10 hours in, and I'm thinking I'm getting my money's worth. Okay, okay, the game-crashing bugs are VERY annoying, and if there isn't a patch released within the week I'll be pissed, but seriously, it's a pretty damn good game.
