Fallout: New Vegas is a sequel to Fallout 2, not Fallout 3. That's why it's set more towards the west coast and has the NCR in it.

So by your logic, Modern Warfare 2 was a rip-off of Modern Warfare 1. The game engine was the same, the graphics the same, the game play the same.... It WAS a sequel in a series after all. Was Fallout 2 a rip-off of Fallout 1? (Do be honest, I don't know because I never played either - I know, I know. I'll do it later) Basically, you're argument is that all sequels are rip-offs: from Halo to Might and Magic VII and VIII; from Mass Effect to Way of the Samurai. Sequels are intended to be SIMILAR! Now, had New Vegas been set in an idyllic forest where the main protagonist was an angsty 12 year old boy with stupid hair and a sword the size of a bungalow, I would agree with you that it is ripping off a fair few JRPGs. However it's not so, PLEASE, in future, make sure that you actually have a valid point before posting something so ludicrous.

Saying Fallout: New Vegas is a rip-off of Fallout 3 is like saying that Fallout 2 was a rip-off of Fallout, GTA: San Anreas was a rip-off of GTA III, and Assassin's Creed 2 was a rip-off of Assassin's Creed.

They're sequels, hence they retain some, if not all of the features of the previous entry. Games do not have to feature a brand new graphics and physics engine every time they release a new installment either. I've played it, it looks the same, plays the same, has a different story, some new weapons, a bit more colour and a brand new wasteland expanse. THat makes it a damn good sequel.

I just beat New Vegas. I'd say its pretty decent, but it does have a fair few bugs in it that ought to be fixed. I'd still say its a good game though.

Hurr durr Bioshock 2 should have been a DLC

And also that. Nearly every sequel is an expansion pack to me.

Thankyou for saying that, I thought the Liberty Prime bit was complete nonsense but (almost) everyone else I know said it was the best bit.
The only other person who didn't like it happened to be the only friend I have who has played the original Fallout games too.

I don't get it. Why do all games have to have a new engine in order to be considered sequels instead of rip offs? Obsidian did a WAY better job with the engine. The game is MILES better than the first Fallout and apart from a few bugs which can easily be patched I see no reason for all this hate.

New Vegas is basically a sequel to Fallout 3. A developer can't rip off their own games in the same way a car producer can't rip-off one of their own cars.

You may as well say; Oblivion is a rip-off of Morrowind, Bioshock 2 is a rip-off of Bioshock 1, MW2 is a rip-off of CoD4, etc

im in australia and it wasnt meant to unlock on steam till tomorrow but i came how to day and its playable. lucky me.

It does enough different, and it's big enough that it isn't an expansion.

That said I'm very disappointed by the lack of polish on the game. A lot of problems from Fallout 3 have reappeared in New Vegas. They really should have worked the kinks out before they sent the game out.

And they didn't really dare to be too different either, which kind of makes the game feel...samey.
