Poll: Is StarCraft really the quintessential RTS?

The only people who say StarCraft is well-balanced are those who play Protoss exclusively and rely entirely on Carriers. That is the single most incredibly UNbalanced unit in any RTS game, ever.

My vote for "the quintessential RTS" goes straight to C&C: Red Alert.

Is it one of the most popular RTS's ever? Yes. Has it enjoyed an amazing shelf life? Yes. Is it influential? Yes. Those are objective questions one can ask and debate.

Is it BEST RTS EVAR?!? That is just a stupid question, and debating it is a waste of time.

Keep in mind quintessential does not mean "Best game EVAR", it means the most influential and well executed games to be the most purest and essential forms of it.
