Poll: Is the Modern World Doomed?

Does anyone agree that we are just slowly killing ourselves and the world around us and that everything we've come to know and trust is just a big fat corporate lie spread to make us buy more crap like an entranced jackdaw? Or am I just spewing nonsense?

Voted not doomed, but that's just me, I have a tendency to take worldly matters very lightly, as I don't have any solution to them anyway.

The whole 'corporate lie' argument does seem a bit far fetched though, even if I put on my conspiracy googles.

there is no "we are doomed...cleansing the evolution chain"
if america gets to involved (when i say america i mean america and england because we follow america like a blind-man to his dog, and i hate that) russia will retaliate and it will will either be nukeclear holocaust or a long drawn out war then a nukeclear holocaust so either way were fucked, the oil is to much for america to resist, i just hope abarma will be a decent precident and say "were staying out of this (optionial) but we will send help to the civilians" and we/england will follow, like the morons we are

Nuclear War has never scared me. I figure that the People that have the power to Push the Go code button fear 1 thing more than Thermo-nuclear War, what is that Bogey? A reduction in their personal spending Power.
Money is not much good in a post Holocaust world.

Nah I wouldn't say doomed...probably going to be in a lot of trouble very soon the way society is heading but doomed is a pretty strong word.

I'm not so worried about the corporate aspect either, just societies degrading morality i.e. rising knife crime in the UK ect, the constant threat of nuclear war and unstable, over zealous idiots that call themselves world leaders.

Oh and global warming, how could I forget that classic scaremongering hot topic.

But we'll probably be fine.

The modern world as we know it may well be 'Doomed' as you say.
However, as I see it, it is only doomed to become something else, possibly something better. I have the flaw of trusting far too easily, but I trust that humanity will not destroy itself, and neither will society.

I doubt we're all doomed. With the rate we're developing infrastructure and technology, I think we can stave off the Global Warming demon for a while. While the world's economy is in a bit of a low right now, we've seen the same situation before and I figure we'll invent our ways out of it somehow. Also, I write off war as a problem because frankly, there's not much left to fight for when you've got the US breathing down your neck.

I think people have been predicting the doom of society since, y'know, revelations. And perhaps it is. But behaving in such a paranoid manner affects nothing, nor does raging against the machine. Believe that everything is going to hell in a handbag all you want, it won't be the first time. But just compare our society to, I don't know, America during the Cuban missile crisis or Britain during World War II. Things really don't suck. We are just so bored we have to complain about something.

We live for the Present, we use up the Planets Resourses like there is no Tommorrow! "I'm all-right Jack" is the Human credo!
We believe We have a Divine right to spoil "un-spoilt" wildness areas. We Exterminate other species, be they flora or fawna,(some times we try to exterminate other races of people). We WAR for the greater glory of God.

Actually I find it unfair that people think America is failing... they have achieved quite a lot! Seriously, but their arrogance is their broken ankle. If the country knew of their failings, and rectified on those, they would be a super power EASY! Not that I would recommend it... the way their presidents have been behaving we need to bend them all over for a smacked bottom!!

While I do think that humanity will survive in the long run the math of expanding human population just doesnt pan out. When we no longer have fossil fuels and plastics to feed the energy and production needs of a population doubling every generation or two we will have to pare down what we need to survive. If we don't (barring miracle breakthroughs in scientific fields that don't get enough research funds) we basically will have to give into the fact that massive starvation and death by communicable disease will basically reset society. It will be tough to have a war when everyone can barely scrape together enough to eat and power to transportation will be drastically reduced.

unless we get a renewable, non poluting resource soon, society will end. It will be just like game frontlines, asia and the americas and europe making war over the planets last reserves of oil only to put off the enevitable fall of mankind.And what caused it all? some black water and the machines dependent on it. Going hand and hand with the fall of mankind is the population. As soon as we overexert our soil and food, we're screwed.Since mankind is the top of everything, are only predaters are ourselves, making war inevitable. war will only diminish our resources quicker and, in the end, destroy the planet.
So yeah, society was doomed from the start, just try not to ruin the experince for the rest of us, will Ya'
