Its amazing how everyone complains the wii only has a handful of good games when i only hear people talk about the same 3-5 games on the 360 and ps3 and guess what? they are almost all fps's -_-

A cool idea, that draws in a lot of new players, but a very shallow experience that has no lasting power for me.

Enough about the wii already, ZP goes on a rant and suddenly everyone is yahtzee. Its just another console, some people like it some dont.
Nice to see that someone else noticed this. However, a better question might be this: Don't you think that it's a little late to be asking if the Wii is nothing but hype a couple of years after it's been released? If this had been posted a few weeks prior or after the console's release, sure, that would have been perfectly reasonable, but it's almost August 2009! Where the hell have you BEEN?

How can you call it just a hype? The console has been around for as long as the Playtstation 3 and its popularity still seems to skyrocket.

I own one, I played with it... now it gathers dust.
Quite frankly, I'm surprised I even still have it.

It is the most boring thing I've ever bought and I bought a rubix cube last year.

I like the Wii, and the reason 90% of you hate it is cause you think yatzhee is god.

I personally enjoy the Wii. I play it no less often than any other gaming console I've ever owned - I have and will always prefer my games that force me to leave the house to interact with other people, like Magic.

But when I DO play the Wii, I enjoy it immensely. Yeah, it's got graphics limitations compared to 360 and PS3, but the games are still fun and Resident Evil 4 was a hell of a lot easier on Wii than PS2. Overall, I think that in terms of sustainability as a console, it's equal with the other current-gen systems.

It's like Yahtzee said way back when he was just starting out on The Escapist. This is probably the most balanced console generation of all time, with it all coming down to what you, personally want out of your entertainment system.

And you're completely right. That's the thing about sheep. They either blindly follow in lockstep behind someone far more intelligent than they (Yahtzee) or they blindly disagree with everything that person says, and forget that everybody having their own opinions is what makes this world a better place.

The Wii is absolutely fine. They go for a stripped down low-power console to keep the price down, and throw in motion controls to differentiate themselves from the competition.

The problem is the developers. The shovelware.(I saw an offer in HMV:2 for 1 on Disney Wii games. That category should NOT exist) The minigames. The tacked on motion contols (why does Marvel:Ultimate Alliance need waving? It's a friggin button masher) I have yet to see a succesful port, developers just shove in arm waving and call it a day.

Third parties are slowly getting the hint about how to use the controller (which should imnrpove with the motion plus) and Nintendo are finally shaking up their franchises (Other M, the darker Zelda) so I'd say there's some life in it yet.

That said, I haven't played it in 2 months. I've just exhausted the current supply of games I like.

Well, it could have been if there was anything else than casual games. I own roughly 20 games for the Wii that aren't over in ten seconds. When the 'Metroid Prime Collection' is released here I'll get it too, but after that one I don't know how long it will take unless something interesting comes out again.

I just wish there would be more classic adventures for the console, the control sceme is perfect for them (I already played through Broken Sword and own Sam & Max for the Xbox 360).

I will say this once more. Videogames must have an influx of new blood, current gamers will go away eventually.
Thank you! I've been preaching this for ages. Gaming became pretty boring after 2003...
