I love my Twitter account because not only can I talk about what's on my mind at any given moment, I can follow what's going on with my friends and with people I admire.

It's a fun service, and so easy to use. If you get an account, I'll follow you, lol.

Pretty much this. I can also keep tabs on Stephen Fry, Adam Baldwin and Eddie Izzard this way, plus it's a good way to keep in touch with people who are interested in the same sorts of things as you. Get an account and I'll follow you :p

No there is no point to is, just another chat thing that's just as restrictive as text messaging. Wait there's the appeal, it's like text messaging.

My twitter is kuropan, just fyi. I'll follow anyone, lol.

Currently, for celebs, I am following Neil Gaiman, Amanda Palmer, Adam Savage, Neil Patrick Harris, MC Frontalot, YTCracker, Felicia Day, and Nathan Fillion. It's a lot of fun to read what they're doing and thinking.

/thread right there.

Are you younger than 15? Are you a little girl? Unless you answered yes to both questions, there's no reason to get a Twitter account. What is the point of knowing everything a celebrity is doing? I don't think I'll ever understand why that's of interest to anybody. I remember that Morpheus AI in Deus Ex saying something about "worshiping celebrities", looks like we've arrived.

Twitter is to allow people to tell the world whatever brainfart they just had.

I've never really liked Tw@er. My sister used to use it before it became popular because it was often used by scientists to keep people up to date with their research, but now its just become annoying.

You kids with your new fangled technology. All we had were land line telephones and the Royal Mail and we were fine.
I'm French, were a sociable bunch, we actually go to each others houses and communicate face to face, failing that we carve messages into cheese.

Now you now why Camembert has such tough skin, communication purposes.

Hehe, that made me giggle, I may have to tweet that.

Of course there's a point to twitter. Humanity collectively crushed the previous threshold for stupidity, and we needed a new target. Ok, it took us about a week to zoom past THAT mark, but new barriers are sometimes hard.

Twitter is the bee's knees.
I consider it my duty to man-kind to spam it almost hourly with pointless details of my pitiable existence that no one will care about.
It's sort of like a diary where you can just check back to see what you were doing on certain days.

No. There is no point to Twitter.

Facebook is worth having in my view. Lets you keep in touch with people, organise events or parties easily, has a chat function, and is useful for stalking research.

There's about as much point to Twitter as there is to carrying a chihuahua in your handbag, or starring in a pointless, horrid quality, night-vision joke of a sex-tape, or shaving your head and being crazy instead of going on tour, or .... *whispers from offstage*

Oh... OH!

Sorry.... Ninja'd.

Yes, and it's point is to allow Conan O'Brien to have a website without NBC shitting bricks.

Thanks for the input guys, but someone's answered the question for me by using my username for their account.

Whatever lingering ideas I entertained about it have been discarded. Well played, "Anton".

I think there is. It allows me to communicate with a couple friends, as well as find out when things go on sale on the PSN store. I can also find out when some of my favorite shwos have new episodes and things like that.

I use it to chat with other Escapists, as well as keeping up with news on bands, game developers, and other artists.

I have never used Twitter because I fear I'll get addicted to it and get into all kinds of crazy shenanigans to keep my followers happy. Like the guy in this [http://www.cracked.com/video_17539_a-series-poor-decisions-twitter-song.html] song.

What a good song... "from web, from text, from text, from web..."

I am very much pro twitter - let me explain why.

I use it to get a glimpse into the lives of others as well as receive the news is short bites. I'm subscribed to several news feeds like The Guardian and some geek ones. I follow Stephen Fry, Will Wheaton, Adam Savage, Drew Carey, David Hewlett, some random porn stars cause I was curious about their lives, a theoretical physicist, a guy who runs an oil rig on the Atlantic, a Hindi match maker and a young gentleman preparing for his first trip into space as an astronaut.

Why? Cause all these people have lives that interest me. Granted, the average joe is not going to have an exciting stream but I use it to take glimpses into the lives of people that do interest me. My feed isn't have as cool as these people, I am generally just retweeting their stuff to my friends or sharing fun links / strange observations.

It's a great way to keep up with the news in your area (Via the trends) and to take glimpses into lives a little different than your own. Following people who tweet what they had for breakfast every day is no fun, but try to think outside the box. Wefollow is a website which promotes popular and interesting twitter users based on category.

Check it out!
