So I was on xbox.com the other day checking messages and what from tafe, when I notcied an interesting picture on the home screen.
Now I know what you are saying it's either:
"But Jinjo, Microsoft would never lie, surely when you click on a link it tells you that it's only free for a portion of the service."
Well yes this is true when you click on the image it comes up with one of those boxes you see for different versions where it has two options and ticks the features they provide; I'm sure many of you have seen this. http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/live/joinlive.htm That's what it looks like and while this page is far from misleading, I can still hear the other half of you saying:
"Oh look Microsoft are blantantly lying to us, because they no one wants to pay for their crappy service and now coupled with their price hike in the US, Canada, Mexico and the UK they are sure they are going to lose customers so they are trying to con people into their evil service."
I'm sure that each individual has used their own colourful language but point stands that I can honestly name you some friends of mine who were originally mislead by this message, it's proabably even more confusing when you sign up on your 360 and you are just gifted a month (and rightfully so, you shouldn't have to straight out pay for something you have never tried).
Now I'm not saying for a minute that Microsoft are trying in any way to decieve us (4 year xbl user in feb), but it's soemthing I am seeing all to often these days.
"Sign up it's free."
"Oh cool. Oh wait the actual main function of the service isn't free, just the left over crap I can get for free anywhere."
And you can't tell me you've never been fooled by something like that anywhere, whether you thought a game was free - if you bought 2 more - or if some other kind of service was. And honestly do you think it is a bit misleading? Just a little, even if you don't do you think it's just a bit cheap? Most of us know you have to pay for live, is this targeting the 12 year olds who just got an xbox or what?
