Poll: Is this stupid?

EDIT: It might behoove you to read this before responding if you don't want to look silly.

Yeah, that's right: no 'Other' option. I know its a sin and somewhat distorts the results of the poll, but I did my best to research games that are widely considered to be contenders for the 'best ever' title in gaming. I basically used the source I listed below, enacted a 'one entry per franchise rule', and these are my results.

So vote based on the options available, even if your personal favorite isn't here, what do you consider the best game of all time?

If your answer is 'none of the above', then vote for the game you think best deserves the title - or don't vote and complain about it.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, but the above choices are based on a very well put together representation of the typical industry 'top 10'. It is not my personal top 10 list. It is not even necessarily what I would consider the top 10 by most people's standards. It's an amalgamation of nearly every other reliable top 10 list from around the industry, and the poll is to determine what, out of the industry's standard top 10, do members of the Escapist deem to be most worthy of the title.

So, what do you all think of his "logic"? Does it REALLY make sense to do a "Best Game" vote that doesn't take into account whether or not you even like any of the choices?

You know, dude, you really went overboard with thread making. This one is kind of redundant. Any "best game ever" threads are also redundant - picking a single one is impossible.

And yes, his logic is flawed. Maybe it's because i have never ever played any of those games. Well, except for Tetris.

Like I said in the bit of text you quoted, I know its flawed. It's not my list or my best games, and I wouldn't put any of them in my number one spot

Obviously I favor RPGs. My top 10 will be different from everyone else's top 10 in the world, most likely.

Nah he did it all in good fun, although describing my logic as 'distinctly American' was a little strange - especially considering that it's not my logic that formulated the options in the poll.

Also an 'Other' option would have defeated the purpose of the poll and thus made it redundant. We already have about a thread a week of 'what is your favorite game ever'.
