Agreed it was a loss of Billions... but the customer picked up that bill.Sinclose said:Amen to that, brother.
Seriously though, the last paragraph was right on the money. We all know what happened when MS tried to push the console so early:a loss in billions that could have been avoided.

The 3-year extended warranty is a bullshit token gesture, for every console they have to replace within warranty, a user will have to BUY A NEW Xbox after theirs fails outside warranty. Not to mention the millions of users who are not clued up about the extended warranty, microsoft is banking on their ignorance to buy new systems.
You know WHY Xbox 360 has such wide ranging and high rates of failure? It is because it is built on the cheap to HIGH YIELDS. Xbox 360 are building them likely so cheap that it's easier to replace those that Fail within 3 years than spend way more money investing in higher quality control. And it seems Xbox 360 "Slim" is nothing but a cosmetic overhaul; the dimensions aren't even significantly reduced, the failure rate remains.
Microsoft wins, and in the process more consoles are sold than there are people who actually invested in the system. Xbox's 14% sales lead over PS3 is nullified considering the 42% failure rate and people forced to buy multiple units (55% of 360 users admit buying multiple systems in a survey of 550'000 Xbox users)
Warranty fears also devalue the pre-owned market incredibly as:
(1) you have no idea of it's quality if it is about to RROD or already has and has had a botched repair
and
(2) no warranty on pre-owned which is practically a necessity.
Only a company like Microsoft can profit and benefit from selling an incredibly unreliable and sub-standard product.
