I started playing supportive classes to get into groups easier, but found out that I prefer that game style rather than mindless dpsing, so I tend to go with the less popular classes.
Back when I played wow I had an ault that was a Gnome Warrior. Yeah it was fun to kick peoples ass as 2 foot tall guy. My main was a Night Elf Warrior though Shadowmeld was just so useful. neither of those are due to how many there where.
While I don't play MMOs very much now that CoH is disappearing. I can say that I always play what I want, in all games. What is popular, easiest, overpowered, etc. Does not mean anything to me.
I run a lot of alts, so ocassionally I end up on a popular race/class combo, but it's purely coincidence.
Despite soloing a lot I do like tank classes, which can be a bit nerve wracking if I do join a group since the assumption is I'll take the lead. Still, it usually works out okay.
