Now I know that everyone is in a financial bind lately and if you have a job you fell pretty lucky. On the other hand is the poor economy giving some employers reason to overwork, marginalize, and under-appreciate their workers? I'm not talking about sweatshop workers, the people who work in those have my deepest sympathies and the owners/operators/profiteers of those places should be dragged out into the street and shot at dawn in front of their own mothers.

I don't currently have a job, but I voted yes because in the last two jobs I have had I felt undervalued.
Firstly I worked as a pool lifeguard. I was 16 when I started and was at any one time resposible for the lives of between 1 and 150 people. I was paid the smallest amount they could legally pay me and was frequently left on duty for longer than the legal limit. I left that job after they refused to pay for me to retake the NPLQ.
Secondly I worked in a super market chain. This was not quite as bad, but I think that the boss wasvery badly organised and was always stressed. He talked too quickly for his lips to keep up so I frequently had to get him to repeat himself. This coupled with the fact that I have difficulty with reading quickly and learning the locations of things and I don't think he liked me very much. I failed the probation period, to my relief.

I get paid a little too little to be an engineer and to have been working here for three years but i guess i dont produce that much either. i was promissed a raise soon though.
