For me yes. Final Fantasy VII was my first Final Fantasy and the only one I've played multiple times. I don't know why, it just that every other Final Fantasy I've played just doesn't get me excited the way Final Fantasy VII did.

First FF was 4, but it's not my favorite (but 4 did give rise to my all time favorite class: Paladin). Favorite is a clusterfuck tie between 6, 7, 9, 11, and 12. Really can't choose, they're all good.

Well, I just looked it up, and I tell YOU good sir...

...I'm totally wrong. Why the hell did I think it was ONLY coming out on the Vita? I could have sworn that all the news I saw on it said it was only for the Vita. Guess I need another pair of glasses to wear over the pair of glasses I'm already wearing.
Phew>< really you almost gave me a heart attack haha. And aww:'D. But nah in all fairness, and I hate to admit it, but I'd seriously consider getting a Vita if it was an exclusive. Seriously, I loved FFX so much.

What parts did you find hard in X? I've heard people say that before, but I cruised through that game on a rocket surfboard when I played it. Aside from maybe one or two bosses I had to retry once or twice, I can't recall any particularly difficult bosses.

Ayup. My first Final Fantasy game was the first one, and I've always found something to nitpick in all the other FF games I've played (with exceptions for Tactics and the FF1 remake on FF: Origins, which both tie for a close number two). I've always enjoyed the "generic character/class" system that every other FF game has flat-out ignored.

 you animal! Well bare in mind I was...quite young when I played it. No idea exactly HOW young, but I'm pretty certain I was in primary school still (so 10/11 years old maximum...I THINK!).
I remember I traded it in because I got stuck against that dude...before(?) you get Ixion? Like, when the Yyevon and Al Behd guys are getting ready to attack Sin and this spawn comes.
...sorry if that makes no sense, my memory is awful xD.
I also remember having trouble against the Seymore just after you get Shiva, the Wyvern you fight on top of the airship, and Seymore Flux I think?
Ugh I remember having real, real difficulty with them hahaha. Cannot WAAAIIIT to play it again though. Like seriously, holy crap. AND IN HD TOO AAAAH!
Any idea on a release date?

My first numbered Final Fantasy was VII and my first spin-off Final Fantasy was Adventures.

Neither of these are my favorites

My favorite numbered Final Fantasy is IX and my favorite spin-off Final Fantasy is Tactics.

So...hope this helps with your theory some.

My first was VII, but IX is my favourite (with VII coming in at a very close second)

FFIX was my first, and yes, it was my favourite.
Although I honestly believe that it would have been m favourite anyway.

No. My first Final Fantasy was on NES and it definitely wasn't my favorite. My favorite would come later on SNES in the form of Final Fantasy IV. Later on Final Fantasy Tactics would also climb very high on my list.

FFIX was my favourite, my first was FFVII. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and just bet that most Final Fantasy fans will say that IX is their favourite.

Plus it is arguably the one with the best soundtrack.

I actually remember all those boss fights. Yeah, the Seymour boss fights are a pain. The first one (with Anima) is indeed the toughest, and I think that's probably the one I had to retry twice to finally beat.

I agree that the Sinspawn boss fight can be a bit of a pain, especially since Yuna isn't there for that fight. But I had been hording health potions the whole game, so the lack of a healer didn't affect me that much.

As for a release date... none yet.

My First Final Fantasy was FF XII and, while I like the story, I absolutely hated the MMO combat system which ruined the game for me.

My first Final Fantasy was XII, and yes, it's my favorite. I've since played nearly all of the main series games, and I like them all, but XII has the character types and political story I prefer. FF Tactics and Vagrant Story are also particular favorites of mine, so I don't think XII is my favorite because it's my first FF. It just happened to be my first.

Not for me, no. The first one I played was the 7th, but I like 6 and 9 more.

Nope, Not even close.

Although I HAVE played Final Fantasy more than any other installment, I would say my favored is FF3-Snes (damn you Square for screwing up your own numbering system)

The original final fantasy ranks like number 5 on my list behind 3(6) 9, 7, 2, 1, 10

So at least for me your theory doesnt hold water. Others it might. I can see some specious reasoning in it and I think it does apply to some.

My favourite is probably Dirge of Cerberus, VII was my first so I guess sort of yeah.

XII is a close second for me, though.

My first was VII but I couldn't say it's my favourite. Having played all of them except the online ones, I'd have to say that I hold V, VI, VII and IX in equally high regard.

My first game in the series was Final Fantasy X, while my favorite game in the series(and of all time) is Final Fantasy X-2.

I started with watching a friend playing final fantasy VIII and i absolutely fell in love with it. When i finally got some cash i had to play it and eventually i borrowed VII, but i still loved the style and Squall more than Cloud.
