No. My first FF was X-2. I don't think I need to explain why that one isn't my favorite. xP
My favorite FF is XII wich I still play every now and again.

First was the GBA remake of 1/2 (Dawn of Souls), but since then played 3, 4 and 6 on DS/GBA and 7 on the PSP (as a PSONE classic) and neither 1 or 2 is my fave... I can't decide between 3 and 4, 3 better in game play and 4 better story imo.

My first was one of the Crystal Chronicles and my favorite is 13. Even if it does occasionally kick me in the balls.

My first FF game was FFX and my opinion of that game is pretty much a dead-on match with Spoony's, that the combat system is very clear about who will go when, the magic system is done well and the boss battles are great but EVERYTHING else about the game is terrible, from the story to the amount of enemy re-use to the sheer ball-busting Guide Dangit moments. And that's ignoring the fact that the last boss in the story is a joke (I couldn't be arsed with the arena, got to bored of grinding monsters).

My favourite FF is FF3, but is by no means perfect. I've gone on about it before but the job system is rather obtuse, you can end up limiting your maximum possible hp if a character sticks to a fragile class like a White Mage, the changes in the game engine from the NES version can potentially make bosses instakill a party member with full health and the final section of the game is a marathon S&M section that can last for hours with NO saving.

But I still enjoyed the hell out of it.

CAPTCHA: skid row. Shame I wasn't talking about PC gaming.

I will say yes, because the first Final Fantasy game that I played was X. I was unaware that X meant 10, so I assumed that it was a new franchise or a remake of a older gen game. When I realized that there where other games in the series, I decided to try them out. Without a doubt, Final Fantasy X is by far, my favorite (closely followed by Final Fantasy Tactics A2).

So, I have a bit of a theory concerning the Final Fantasy franchise. It seems that, for most people, whatever Final Fantasy was their first is their favorite. I'd like to test this theory.

I know that for myself, this is the case. FFX was my first, and is my favorite.

So, what was your first Final Fantasy, and is it your favorite?
You and I both:] loved FFX and cannot wait for the HD version on PS3.
Umm... the FFX remake is coming out on the PS Vita, not the PS3. Hope I haven't burst your bubble.
It's for both, so nerrr:D.
...and if you're adamant it's Vita exclusive, then that's a very poor business move and I'd like you to provide sauce if you can:].
Well, I just looked it up, and I tell YOU good sir...

...I'm totally wrong. Why the hell did I think it was ONLY coming out on the Vita? I could have sworn that all the news I saw on it said it was only for the Vita. Guess I need another pair of glasses to wear over the pair of glasses I'm already wearing.
Is it not coming out on Xbox 360 at all? Damn it... *cries*

VIII was my first, and that's my favourite game of all time, so yeah. I suppose nostalgia plays a big part in it if you played your first Final Fantasy when you were a kid.

Technically no. My first Final Fantasy was Mystic Quest but since that's not counted for the most part, that would make my first numerical Final Fantasy...either 7, 8 or, 4...possibly tactics advanced. I had those four around the same time but can't remember which came first (8 being the most likely). My favorites though for all the ones I've played are...

Final Fantasy IV*
Final Fantasy IX*
Final Fantasy VIII*
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy II*
Final Fantasy Adventure
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest*
Final Fantasy VII*
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy Legends 2
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy XIII

* = Titles I've beaten

I've played demos for XII and XIII-2 so they can't really be counted here. Although I am really excited to play XII (Y U NO RAED PS2?!) and was completely underwhelmed by 13-2...but then based on my placement of 13...

4 is my favorite by far. I love the characters, the specific character arcs and, the overall story. It's also the one I've probably clocked the most time into (GBA and PSX. Need the SNES version though and, maybe famicom...). IX was my favorite on the PSX and I think it holds up today when it comes to the graphics. I loved the characters in this one as well even if they didn't all have the best arcs. The big seller for me though was the Chocobo mini-games which I loved to freaking death. Chocobo's Hot and Cold was a great way to get players to really explore the over-world. I also loved the cities of Reno and, Alexandria...they felt alive to me. FFVIII had my favorite leveling system. It allowed you to become a walking God if you allowed yourself to grind enough and while that may put some people off, I thought it was fan-tucking-fastic. I also really liked Quistis and am one of that special 1% who loved Selphie.

Well my first game was FFX-2, and it's not my favourite.

However, I still think your idea has a lot of merit. By most accounts, the game isn't very good at all, but I like it quite a lot, especially the battle system.

For the record, my favourite game in the series so far is Crisis Core, followed somewhat closely by Tactics Advance.

Yes and no, but I picked yes on the poll. My favorite is 6 and it was the first exposure to final fantasy I had, but it was secondhand watching a friend play. While the first one I actually played through myself was 7.

No, The original on the NES was boring as hell, even back then.

My fave is 6, followed by 12.

No. My first Final Fantasy was Final Fantasy VII, while my favorite is Final Fantasy VI. Although I admit much of my enthusiasm for VII has been killed by it's fanbase, but I felt much more of a connection to the characters in VI then I did in VI or any of the other Final Fantasy's I've played.

I started on the NES version. At the time it was the hardest damn game I have ever had (I still have the Nintendo Power guide somewhere and the original cartridge from my youth). As such I also enjoyed it thoroughly and between it and Dragon Warrior, I was introduced to the JRPG market. So yeah I would say its my favorite, especially when they remade it for PSX.

My first was FF8.
Thank God it wasn't seven, or I might be a different person.

Still, I've gained a whole lot of skepticism towards most games, and with Final Fantasy titles, I kind of have a hard time if it spends more time on the pretty, whiny protagonist than making this magical, whimsical worl-
Oh god, oh god that song.

IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY
And Mt. Gurgu, and the Temple of Chaos and... ALL THE SONGS!
*wallows in childish glee*

Yeah... I don't think what I'm looking for in Final Fantasy games is the same as most people.

FF:Origins was my first. Probably my favourite as well - I was a bit young for it at the time, so I sucked and never really got too far. I'd love to give it another go, but for whatever reason my PS2 cannot save PS1 games. Probably broken...

Eh. I'm just hoping for a 360 port of it on XBLA. :/
