.....right.....

People using 3rd party programs to change game mechanics.

good luck convincing 15million people.

Let me know when you've got 3.
about eighty-3 have said yes.
How legitimate do you expect this poll to be when people out of spite or disregard for Blizzard, or who wouldn't buy a game from Blizzard regardless of this issue will pick boycott. If you want a real survey that you can quote try asking people with Battle.net accounts with recent games to take a poll and disallow anyone else.
I'm going to be honest here. If any boycott starts on the internet i NEVER take it seriously.

Last game I've bought from Blizzard was Warcraft 3 + expansion. Since then I've never purchased any Blizzard games, and not going too.

Mostly because I won't tolerate Battle.net. I have Steam, and Steam is enough. You force some shit system on me you go to hell.

If you don't want to get banned, don't cheat. I really don't give a shit if it's just single player, you are gaining achievement points and their associated rewards fraudulently. While I think a 2-4 week suspension and a complete wipe of your achievements would probably be a better solution, bans aren't really all that severe in my opinion.

I cry at night...
I loved that game, but I was under the impression that Vivendi owns Blizzard, not the other way around.

I mean, I think Blizzard is one of their subsidiaries...

Vivendi stopped doing a lot of things after they acquired Acti-Blizz though, including tribes and other games I cared about...

I'm sure you all have seen this by now but for those of you who haven't get a look at what those bastards are trying to get away with now. I'm calling for an escapist wide boycott on everything Blizzard.

Now, WHO'S WITH ME!!!

I don't cheat. I don't even play Blizzards games anymore. This is about trying to preserve people single player freedoms. If we let them get away with this they'll just want more and more.
your pretty late to the party mah good friend, this happen about 3-4 days ago...which is like 2 weeks in internet time, like you said "i dont even play blizzard games anymore" which begs the question...why do you care, its not as if their doing harm to you, im sure since you dont play, your account wasent banned or anything. stop complaining about things that dont effect your life, everyones gonna think your just trolling

The concern is that other companies will follow in Blizzards footsteps.
well if othet companies start to follow im pretty sure most people would notice, when someone bans my minecraft account or my TF2 account for some reason, then ill be pissed but until then...STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THINGS THAT DONT EFFECT YOUR LIFE

You troll, you.

I'm a little confused. Are these cheats the ones in which you open a caht box, type in a goofy phrase, then get resources? Similar to EVERY other blizzard RTS? If so it seems odd why they are banning people. It its programs like maphacks that let you see the whole screen, thats a different story.

I dont really know what to make of all the people saying they want to start boycotts against games and companies just because they're butthurt about stupid little things like this.

You broke the rules that were set.
You got banned for it.

Thats how life works.

Bleh, Blizzard is meh. Cant exactly say ill crusade against them with you. But I simply dont care about what they do these days, all of their games of late have been overhyped bags of mediocre crap. Not worth the effort, you'll just rile upp all the Fanboys and thats just counterproductive, no1 can outshout a fanboy.

Well cheating is wrong, online or off, so there should be some penalty for it. True, a lifetime ban is pretty harsh but if you wanted a real reason to boycott Blizzard I'd have to argue that using WOW to turn people into the walking dead, fearing sunlight and human relationships, is a crime far greater.

People are missing the big picture. If we boycott Blizzard, they'll start losing money, and then they might start, y'know, actually making an effort rather than just milking WoW until its udders turn crimson and dry up. It's a win-win situation.

Really? You want everyone to disregard that which doesn't affect them personally?
well let me put it this way...in the past...lets say week, how many times do you think the avarage person thinks about the children starving in africa?? my guess is none, you wanna know why??? because their not starving themselves, so their not worried about it, the children in africa dont affect them personally so they dont care

another example, if YOUR kid was starving to the point where he passes out constantly how often do you think you'd be focusing on something needless like blizzards world wide ban?? my guess is not at all, you wanna know why? because you'd be focusing on the kid you need to feed

humans are the most selfish creatures on this planet and that will never change, let me ask you one more question, have you ever donated money to a charity that REALLY needs it? nothing stupid like a donation to keep a video game server up?? answer or dont im sure i already know

Why do gamers have such a misplaced sense of entitlement? For Christ's sake, they don't want people cheating their game, I don't care if it's single player or not, get over yourselves.

Ah so since I am not concerned about EVERYTHING that doesn't affect me personally then I shouldn't be concerned about anything that doesn't affect me personally. Makes perfect nonsense.

As for donations, sure I have donated to people with jars and bells outside Wal Mart at Christmas time.
you mean those old guys who dress as santa? do you know exactly what their charity is for?, do they tell you what its for? or do they just stand there ringing a bell and hope that someone drops more then $5

It's understandable that one might question whether the punishment fits the crime. Ultimately, it's Blizzard's decision. You can question it, but you're unlikely to make them change their minds. I support Blizzard on this, because third-party hacks should not come anywhere near a multiplayer game. SCII is multiplayer at heart. No one cares if you mod a single player game, because it ultimately has no effect on other players.
Exactly. And if no one cares then you shouldn't be banned for doing so.

While banning an entire account and disabling their game and basically throwing that money they spent on your game down the bin is a tad extreme considering it was only single-player.

But then again, I'm inclined to not even look at a hack website! They cause nothing but problems even for the people who don't use them.
it is a 14 day ban, more like a warning, but of course the people the got ban isn't going to tell you that, since it is clearly Blizzard fault for banning them. really?
Well, if it's just a 14 day ban then that's a effective method of getting their "NO HACKERS ANYWHERE" attitude across.
