I was just curious how many people have played of Jade Empire. Prior to getting it I had heard very little about it, but I saw it for $15 at Circuit City, (this was about four months ago), and I don't think I have spent $15 better.

It is a superb game, but it seems to have a very small following. Is this possibly because Bioware released no patches to fix the bugs in-game?

I also wish they had added a campaign editor like in Neverwinter Nights. That would have made my day, certainly.

Just bought it on Xbox LIve again recently, it's a fantastic game and everything still holds up well today.

Heard good things about it, but never played it since I owned a Ps2 at the time.

Incidentally, this thread should be moved to the gaming section.

So it should, my bad.

My friend recommended it to me and I have since bought it, it was good but the targeting system drove me mad, and it felt like a button smasher mixed with an RPG. But I suppose it could be good if I got used to the tactics behind it. But whatever the game I got at the time with it eclipsed it. I might go back to it but I didn't find the skills system very intuitive.

Also unlike with other RPGs I never felt the want to improve myself, like I do in most RPGs. Personally I preferred the click and attack combat Bioware used in Knights of the Old Republic and Neverwinter Nights 2.

I liked in Mass Effect they added the shooter element, it was done at lot better, and it gave the feel of improving yourself. Also it never needed to be too complicated it was just point and shoot. Not the ridiculously frustrating sequence in Jade Empire of aim at the guy you want to, use the right combo of moves, dodge, block, attack, special attack.

I also never really got into the dialogue it just felt like I was going through the motions, even though it took up most of my time.

I liked the characters, they were pretty well defined in personality, and visually the landscape and characters were pretty good.

But overall it was good, but I haven't finished it, so I don't have as much gravitas to my comments as I haven't finished it.

Well, since I'm gonna be doing a JE review soon, yeah, I'd have to say that I've played it :D

I have the PC Special Edition. I like the game a lot.

Bought it a while ago and have always thoroughly enjoyed. In fact John Cleese almost steals the show with his performance absolutely hysterical. A great game that left me guessing till the end I quite enjoyed the plot and its very unique setting.

Fantastic game, while unfortunately short and lacking the customization you see in most similar games. The characters and storyline were extremely enjoyable and the battle system is quite fun. The dialouge is priceless, especially from Henpeck Hou and Black Whirlwind.

My only gripes with the game were the difficult (or lack thereof, I hear Jade Master is a bit harder) and the cliche

Good = Heroic savior of worlds
Evil = I am going to murder your family, kick you puppy and and! Not give back that picture of your dead wife! Man I'm evil!

ade Empire does have some exceptionally evil choices and more arrogant Closed Fists ones, many boil down the cliches, despite the game's attempt to explain otherwise.

yes, and i loved it, but again i must agree that it was FAR too short, even when doing the side quests

Jade Empire was amazing when i played it in 2005, sold it off once i was done with it. I recently borrowed it off of my friend, and liked it a lot less, it has aged badly, unlike KOTOR.

PC, of course. A superior version, needless to say.*

*- Due to extra monsters and skills, of course.

Heh, speak for yourself. Every time I'm sick, I get my gamepad, plug it in, install Jade Empire and play. I would play KotOR, but I had problems using my Logitech Dual Action in it, while JE uses all gamepads almost flawlessly.

Ah, BUT the PC version doesn't have the frankly epic voiceovers on the credits.

"I recall your earliest lessons. You fell from a thousand feet during the 'Walk of Death', which alone was odd enough at your age, but you made short work of the 'Walk of Maiming', and the 'Walk of Intense Discomfort', and tore your head clean off. I comforted you, well, your head."
