Poll: Jimquisition: like or dislike

I like it, I think comparison to other shows are a decent starting point, but I also think he is trying to do his own thing, Yahtzee reviews games, Moviebob reviews movies in one show and dissects pop-culture in the other, Extra Credits have a very meta-feel to me, they go into the industry and cover a wide variety of subjects related to gaming as a whole, Jim seems to be more on the side of low-scale, witch does not make it bad, but it is a different perspective.

I think his rocky start at the escapist could have to do with him being a new edition.
Looking at some of his earlier work on Youtube, including the one posted above, they are for the most part better than what has been posted here so far, but I believe that by moving to a new place, he has lost a bit of his groundwork, and there is a chance his first couple of episodes are on common (and for some people, trite or less insightful) subjects simply because he is attempting to establish the basics before rushing into heavier stuff, so I will keep watching to see if it gets more interesting.

The above posted "Your reviews are TEH BIAS" is a good one, and in close relation to the CoD episode, check out "Big dumb shooters are better than art games" for a more in-depth look into how he feels about those and why.

His attitude of doing what he can to infuriate is understandably annoying to some, but I don't have issues with that, I just try to read between the lines and not take it too literaly, the same way I do when listening to George Carlin.

Jim isn't for everyone. If you can't take a smack to the balls standing up, Jim isn't for you. If you can take someone making fun of your core values, and actually look back and reevaluate how you think about things, I suggest everything Jim has ever done, ever.

I voted good, the episodes are gradually starting to entertain me more. The first one was a little... Well bad. But it's gotten better; hopefully will continue to do so.

Honestly all he's doing is imitating Yahtzee. Also since when you just get a soapbox Moviebob waited a couple of years and Extra Creditz actually is a very insightfull look at the inustry. All Jimquisition is a moron on a soapbox. Please just toss this guy.

He's alright. i don't love him and if I was charged for it I wouldn't pay but for free and around five minutes? No problem.

He started off pretty poorly, but the last few videos have actually been pretty fun to watch.

I definately like him, he's pretty good right up until the little bit at the end where he goes "And so thank God for me!" which isn't as funny as the slightly more natural humour that comes through in the writing of his scripts. Junk that stuff off and I'd probably come away feeling a little less dirty as the ending credits play~ But I do like him and his points, which I don't agree with always, are at least posers that make me think a little.

I literally lasted 30 seconds through his video... I can't help but feel the quality of some of the escapist media has dropped... But that could just be coz I miss Apocalypse Lane and Delorious... The reviews are still good, and the large majority of the written articles and news are excellent, but the only videos I watch are Zero Punctuation and Unskipable. The rest are largely rubbish. I was actually borderline offended by the videos with a generic hot chick pretending she knows/likes robots... Like, the escapist just wants a girl in videos so that all the desperate little nerds collectively woooo and keep watching the vids.

I like the show, like his opinions and the way he presents them, but don't like him. I'll keep watching. Not even ten episodes in, you think shows don't need to get the kinks out?

He's got way more than ten. He's been making Jimquisitions on Destructoid for a while now.

Oh. Well anyway everything gets better with practice? At least let's hope so.

Can't frickin' stand him. He's more obnoxious than Yahtzee, and without the charisma. Even when he makes a valid point, it feels like he's shaking his dick in my face.

Pretty much this. Regardless of what I think of Yahtzee's opinions, I'm usually nonetheless entertained by the videos. Jimquisition is just irritating. He's loud, obnoxious, and the humour isn't funny. The videos themselves are pretty awful as well, given that it's pretty much just him talking at a fixed camera for five minutes. It would be better as a podcast. It still wouldn't be good, but the video feels wasted on it.

That last episode was fucking painful, just when it seemed to be improving. The basic message I got was if you dislike COD, you're a lipstick-wearing pussy.

He did say Call of Duty has a "Well paced narrative" which is a lie.

But yeah I like his show. He's like the Anti-Extra Credits

He's no Yahtzee or MovieBob though, but he's up there.

He is clearly for entertainment, and as a big fan of stand up I like his delivery/style. It's stupid to compare him to Extra Credits because they play the lovable, cutesy know-it-alls. Jim is playing the ironic egomaniac who does the self-depreciation thing.

People take things far too seriously. Either that or they're just morons who fail to understand that its clearly for jolly ol' knees up and not everything has to be a lecture.

People saying he's copying Yahtzee is daft too, given that both he and Jim are just knock-off Charlie Brookers.

All that said, his first two episodes were pretty dogwank. I've genuinely enjoyed each episode since more and more.

I'm not a fan, although I do like his title music.

It seems like his soapbox is about largely irrelevant topics - the only one I got all the way through was the Sony one, which was alright. The latest (call of duty) one seemed to be interesting, but then he went and put on makeup and I pretty much lost any respect I had for him.

He seemed to be improving, but then he had that last episode that was made of strawmans and the convo with James and MovieBob...god that was awful.

He's sometimes makes very concise points about relatively old subjects or otherwise subjects that I can't learn much out of. Said points are (mostly) sandwiched in between his childish condescension or really poor humor. I rate him poor. Not for me at all. He's like a worse Game Overthinker (AKA MovieBob's similar series that's been running a lot longer now IIRC). Well, the first dozen or so Overthinker episodes anyways. The 50th horrible CG, MovieBob fighting himself in a forest episode is worse than Jimquisition'll ever be hopefully. That'd get a "very poor", indeed, but that's another topic altogether.

I honestly can't stand the show. So far it's the only show thats been on the Escapist that I just do not like in the least bit. I gave it a fair chance of three episodes to catch me in the slightest and it didn't so I've just stopped watching it. I voted poor because it's not absolutely terrible, but definitely something that comes close to being watchable for me.

EDIT: I do like the title music though. So I guess thats something?
