Jon Stewart relies a bit too much on awkward pauses and raging outbursts of profanity, which are hilariuos but a little predictable.

Colbert's got that weird, off-kilter wit going on at all times.
That plus the thinly-veiled satire, you've gotta admit staying in character like that is pretty impressive.

I personally just like Stewart more as it gives more of satire of the news, which is what I want. Don't get me wrong, Colbert is hilarious and one of the most entertaining people on TV, but he gets a little too crazy some times in his parody of the right wing.

I really like Stephen Colbert better and you should probably edit your post because right now you've spelt Jon's last name wrong. It's Stewart not Stewert...

John Stewart, because he provides better commentary on actual news (Given all of the comments are in a joking manner).

I almost always watch both, but if I skip one, it's usually Colbert. Colbert is funnier, but Stewart's points are usually more interesting and explained better, and he is a much, much better interviewer. These strengths and weaknesses are probably most closely related to the fact that Colbert is compelled to follow his character, while Stewart is able to flex around his intellect a bit more.

They are both great and the only thing that puts Jon Stewart on top for me is Senior Black Correspondent, Larry Wilmore, and before he left, Rob Riggle. Those guys are hilarious. I don't know if anyone was watching last night, but Larry Wilmore did a great commentary. But if we are just looking at each by themselves, it's really a tie. They complement each other well, and after watching both, I am thankful for Television. If they were the only show ever on TV, It wouldn't be so bad.

sorry about the quality, its not mine.

Larry Wilmore also did an animated series called the PJ's, and it was so funny.

I've always had a hard time enjoying the wacky character type of humor. Colbert is still kind of fun, but he doesn't crack me up nearly as much as Stewart does ^^

Jon Stewart is the scalpel. He carefully constructs arguments, words everything with caution, and strikes specifically, focussing on single issues and hypocracies rather than larger ideals.

Stephen Colbert is the Sledgehammer. He batters idiotic opinions into dust with relentless no holds barred sarcasm and mockery. He focuses on larger ideas and the very reasons people come to a broad political position.

I often compare Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert in the same way I compare Family Guy and American Dad. The Daily Show has simply become a conservative bash-fest and has really gone downhill lately. I get it, Dick Cheney's the devil, ha ha he's evil, I got it the first 500 times you made the joke. The Colbert Report on the other hand is more subtle in it's conservative bashing. It's not as in your face with it's "George Bush is evil" mindset and it actually shows creativity. Therefor, Colbert wins.
Not quite, Stewart seems to be making fun of liberals as well. Seen the "That's great...now fix the economy" sketch?

I find both of them quite funny. I find Stewart much more intelligent and varied, but Colbert is much more consistently funny.

Jon Stewart in every single way. I have an autographed picture of him wishing me happy birthday. But I haven't gotten to meet him yet, as I was supposed to through the person who got me the picture...

Another freaking vs. thead. At least it isn't between X and Chuck Norris. I will admit I actually approve of this one though.

Jon Stewert. The reason it's great news is because ther is no bias or partisanship. If your in the public eye and you do or say something stupid, prepare to get mentioned on The Daily Show.

I love them both. I really can't decide who I like more so I vote both.
And why do I feel like Im getting better news and coverage on joke news stations than I am on real news stations?
Because you are. FOX has a heavy conservative slant, MSNBC has a heavy liberal slant, and CNN talks about the most irrelevant things.
I find it sad that I get better news coverage from a joke station.
I do the same thing, but mostly because regular news is depressing and Comedy Central's version of news is hilarious while still being informative enough. Usually if I'm not sure how true something is I look it up on the internet but for the most part...yeah.

Anyway I like them both equally because they each do the same thing in their own specific way. I will admit that since I don't have cable TV at home my only access to the shows is online, and typically I will watch The Daily Show more than Colbert but mostly because I like all the correspondants used on The Daily Show and also enjoy it when Stewart gets someone to fall right on their own sword (see: Monday's episode where he expertly traps Bill Kristol)
