As I was cleaning the kitchen earlier tonight, I found myself singing along to the music playing in the background. This in itself didn't surprise me, at least not compared to the fact that I turned out to be singing along with "Amarantine" and "It's in the Rain" by Enya. Those few of you who have actually heard my voice might notice something strange about that.

But I don't consider this unusual. After all, in Japan, where the karaoke doesn't suck, I had managed to draw compliments singing, honest to god, <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUd2JcauW4s>this. Just because I have fun singing "Music of the Night" doesn't mean "Angel of Music" wouldn't be just as fun; why should I cut out half the songs in the world if they're good enough to sing?

I wonder about the prevailing levels of shamelessness in the Escapist community, in this regard. Thoughts?

Hell, I'll maybe sing any song I like, if no one is listening :p
so never in public. As I always insisted to my music teacher, I'm Tone Deaf.

I sing songs in different genders, different ranges, different languages... If I'm alone and I like it, it's karaoke time.

I've sung in public before. At my school's "Welcome Back" ceremony me and three other female members of my Anime Club sung White Reflection [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyczT1FY4cY], the only techno song I like. The results of weeks practice and choreography: Perfection.

Our next will probably be either Inner Universe [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUk2r-cJtTs] or Rise [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxD_Y6ax95Q&] by Origa. Our next assembly following that will be the Multi-Cultural festival where we will perform Hare Hare Yukai, though I guess that's more dance than karaoke.

I'm quite comfortable with getting in front of others, I actually perform better under pressure.

I remember one of the most shameful times of my life...

I was with a couple of friends (2 males, 3 females) and started talking about the 90's dance, and i start singing my favorite song (from that time) after about 30 seconds of singing i see all of them looking at me wide-eyed with awe (i wish, it was probably shock)

Let's just say it's not very manly to sing "i'm the shyest girl in the whole wide world"... I had to promise to never ever again sing in public :(
