Haha, well I know I'm gonna sound like and old geezer with this one (although I'm only 18) but am I the only who thinks kids get too much delivered on silver platter to them. I'll start with games. By the time I was in late elementary school, I had to buy my own things--videogames/whatever. The money I got from my parents was (except on a few occasions where dad slipped me some $$) was for actually doing stuff--i.e. mowing the lawns with a pushmower and doing various yard tasks and house-cleaning--not some bogus allowance that I keep hearing about...and I felt sort of privileged to actually have an income.
Nowadays I see kids getting blackberries and PS3s for the holidays, or just because they came out...and why does the kid need a blackberry anyway!? I got along fine without a cell-phones until middle school. The fact that kids have all this stuff is further reaffirmed when I log on to PSN (at a friends house) or my live and realize--with horror--that have the kids are little prepubescent snots with headsets and nothing to say.
Now, I know not all kids are like that, but it seems like a pretty hefty majority, even though kids can't be employed legally (other than by parents). Should kids (10-15) have to work for their games/systems?
