Killzone 2 is one of those games that you find really fun for about a month then just stop playing after that. You play the game for awhile, but then you just realize that you have quite a few other games that you can play for PS3. Gameplay does feel very different compared to other games. The guns feel very "real". By real I mean they would feel real in a WW2 game. Every time you shoot your gun, recoil makes it go off in a random direction, even when looking down the sights. I get why you would think this is realistic, but when your army is extremely advanced in terms of technology, you would thinnk they would greatly improve things like recoil. The recoil thing is all about the game feeling gritty. The gritty feel makes you like a you're really part of a very violent war. The downside is that the graphics never vary, you're just looking at different shades of grey the entire game. If you're looking for a varied game, get Resistance 2 instead of this. People were also extremely excited about the first person cover system. I now know there's a reason other games never had a first person cover system. If the game has a duck and lean button, then you can use all the first person cover you want. The first person cover system also just doesn't work very well. You can't take cover behind a lot of things that would make sense.

Multiplayer is fun. Until you reach the top rank, which takes roughly five days. After that though, the game is done. There's just nothing else to do. You would just rather play other games. Maybe this is because the lack of variety in weapons, maybe it's because the game is so repetitive, I'm not sure why but it just stops being fun. The worst part about this is that just a couple days before, the game was one of the most fun things I had ever played. This just makes it even more dissapointing.

Conclusion

Killzone 2 is fun, really fun, but play for a while and you just don't feel like playing it anymore. Also it's a little too gritty for my taste. Seriously even the most realistic games of the last few years aren't this ridiculously gritty, not even Gears of War 2. You could do much worse than Killzone 2, but you can also do MUCH MUCH better with games like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Resistance 2. Oh yeah I also forgot to mention that this game is EXTREMELY cliche.

Wow, that was a really thought out review. Unfortunately I'm going to be a lazy bastard tonight and outsourcing my 2 cents :)

It's too short!

Seriously, you sound like you have good points: just expand on them a lot, give examples and such. The review just needs more substance. Don't be afraid to type a lot, as long as you use paragraphs prperly no one will complain.

Also, an image here or there can go a long way.

"Shades of Gray" argument isn't very sound as GTA 4, Gears 2, Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead fall into this category. The fact that bullets don't go exactly to the target as if guided by a laser releases Killzone 2 from COD4 syndrome and adds different approach to get people to think outside the box. Elaborate what is cliche about it? If it's the very British accents you really need to look into the many film devices that are in a Hollywood film. With this film device the bad guys usually have an accent, most commonly a British one.

Pretty much this, it felt like you were trying to compress your review and thus took out a lot of things that would have made your review more fun to read and would have allowed yourself to have more of a stylistic voice.

That goes thrice for me *points to above*
I imagined you taking a deep breath at the start and just blurting that all out in one breath, it was quite comical :)

You could've added images of various parts of levels with these 'shades of grey' that you're referring to, it really helps a lot :)
Also, Elaborate on points - Examples will help us to identify with what you're referring to.

Apart from that, you did a pretty decent job!

This is too short, repetitive, and really cluttered. It has some really good points, and you bring up a lot of good things to think about, but they're hidden behind a bad setup. Keep trying though! You have good ideas, now you just have to get them out there a little better.

Alright review.

But all I want to say to improve is just what other people have said, but you did bring up some good points.

I agree. Apart from the fun part. Killzone 2 lost it's fun the moment i progressed from mission 1 to mission 2 and realized this is all there is. The I hit multiplayer proceeded to the top 4000 players. Gained honour rank #4 (the highest) and was done. That was it.

I had sniper in multiplayer by the end of my first day, it really wasn't a very thought out progression sytem.

I really hate Killzone 2. I just couldnt get into it. It robs off almost every game out there. In the words of ZP "it is Gears of World War 2"
