[sub] I used the search bar, but the last thread on this was made a year ago, so I thought it would be okay.
Also, might be spoilers for those who haven't played them both, but if you haven't played them both, why are you readin this?[/sub]

Now, I'm sure that a lot of you reading this have played Kotor and Kotor 2. If you haven't, why are you here?

My question to you is this. Which one was your favorite? I ask you this because I was just about to play through the first one again. (I'll probably play through the second one again too)

I would have to say that the first Kotor is my favorite. The story was good, the characters were terrific, the voice acting was really well done and there is one other thing that I like about the first game.
It's finished.

Now, the second game is still great. Sure, it might not have been finished, but some of the things that they added were terrific! New force powers, being able to train your allies so they can become a jedi (or sith) and most of the new characters are awesome! (I'm looking at you Atton)

There is one person that I wanted in Kotor 2. Jolee. Jolee was one of my favorite characters in the first Kotor. Sure, he was old in the first game, but he couldn't be that old. The second game only takes place 5 years after the first one. Jolee could still be alive!

Anyways... Which games was your favorite, and give some reasons why.

[sub] I'm not asking "which is better", I'm just asking which one you like more.[/sub]

I liked 2 more...cause I did not get stuck at the starting city. Though after reading the plot of it...I dont remember 90% of what I did. I do remember fighting the 3 lightsabers though...and that the 2 Sith Lords were pointless in the end. Esp the cover one...its like, randomly go fight him, beat him, then leave, sort of like an after thought.

I know most people prefer the first one, but I honestly don't see why.

Yeah, the ending of the second was mangled. But what was left was so much better than the first in every single way.

The gameplay was tuned up and polished, the pacing was improved, the characters were incredibly well-written compared to the first batch and you actually had some non-trivial control over them, the story was way more complex and meaningful than the original one. If they hadn't been forced to release an unfinished product by their publisher, KotOR2 would be a modern classic. In stead, it gets a ton of hate even though it was just plain better than its predecessor.

I didn't play either. Saw my brother play it. And like I posted, 2 was better

This is basically it. I am always blown away by the unjustified whining and hate kotor 2 gets. It's a shame it's not getting a sequel.

KOTOR 1:
Better story
More complete
Less buggy

KOTOR 2:
Better game mechanics (more light saber customization, better combat animation, crafting items and shit tonnes more)
Better character development and writing (Atton and Kreia's stories were great)
Great interaction within the party
WAY more bugs (mostly fixed by patches both official and community)
Incomplete game (unless you download TSLRCM which patches in a lot of cut content)

Overall I prefer KOTOR2, especially with the patches.

If you read what I originally posted, you would know that I'm not asking "which one's better", I'm asking which is your favorite.

Kotor 1 story wise was so fucking epic. I love you Bioware!

Kotor 2 was great and definitely not deserving of any hatred, but it felt so much like a transitionary game building on the first one, inviting a sequel that NEVER DID FUCKING COME GOD DAMN YOU LUCASARTS

Sorry. Guess I still haven't got over it...

In the end KOTOR was better made and better told, but I love the gameplay for KOTOR2 alot better. the fact that you could turn most of your party to the darkside was just awesome.
I also enjoyed the story almost as much as KOTOR, if they had only had more time it would have been the better game.

I voted for KOTR. It definitely has a more compelling story along with terrific gameplay and was a little bit more difficult than KOTR2.

That being said, KOTR2 had a great many gameplay refinements that made it more "fun", however the story was not quite as good in my personal opinion. Loved wielding 2 lightsabers and just generally being a badass with my force powers but with these greater and more powerful options at my disposal I think it made a lot of the game too easy.

Both games are definitely incredible though - two of my favorite games ever made.

I slightly prefer 1. 2's gameplay was better, story was worse, but I would have preferred it over 1 if it had actually been finished.

I might have liked KOTOR 2 better if it had an ending and was not a hellacious, bug-riddled mess.
