well besides the old republic, which people have been referring to as KOTOR 3-10 due to the "massive" script there was little noise from what is arguably the best game series in the star wars galaxy . Yet with the small videos seen and viewable at the link above, it is hard to say whether or not this will be worth the wait. The series being made into a MMO can't be considered a direct sequel even though it mentions darth Malek on the time-line. It still feels off as far as a sequel is concerned. Now it is on the table that Obsidian the creator of KOTOR2 want (thats right they actually want, without knowing they can, WANT to do this) according to this interview http://www.gamebanshee.com/interviews/feargusurquhart2.php
to make a true single player KOTOR 3 not a MMORPG version.

Any thoughts on this, imo i love this and want to fully back them in any way a fan can, seeing as their first attempt was by no means bad. Yet i believe with more time, since the MMO would tide us off, that they could return to the shear greatness of the 1st kotor. one of the most in depth and well made games in rpg history, but that again is just my hopes and dreams.

Star Wars: The old Republic is not a sequel to Kotor. No one from Bioware never said that. Just because it's being developed by Bioware and shares elements with Kotor in no way means it is a sequel. And it doesn't mean there won't be an actual Kotor 3.

Edit: Voted yes btw, would love to see the mmo and Kotor 3 both come out.

I hope there is a KOTOR 3, and it is developed by Bioware.
KOTOR was amazing, KOTOR 2 was okay, but not as good as the original.
I hope to see KOTOR 3, buit not just single player. I would like to have a co-op game where I an friends (either local or internet) could play as party members.

No. They said the script was the size of ten Kotors. You either misread or misunderstood that.

Edit:mad: Darth. Again in that quote they are talking about the size of the game script...not that it's actually kotor 3-10.

Heres the quote you guys are talking about. When taken in context it's easy to see that he IS NOT saying "SWTOR is Kotor 3, we are never doing Kotor 3". He is making the point that working on SWTOR is AS IF they have been working on Kotor 3-12+ and they are going to be able to do things in the mmo that they couldn't normally in just one game.

And I quote "*snip*?we?re really doing KOTOR 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12+. We have THAT much content, that many stories, and we really get to do a lot of the things that we wouldn?t have been able to do in KOTOR 3."

Anyways I don't wanna derail this thread so yeah.

The MMO is supposed to cover all the things that KOTOR 3 should have. The return of the true Sith, Revan's and the Exile's fate. Even though you won't actually play through these things, they will be covered. Just go on youtube, there are tons of interviews and other things on this.

The Old Republic is not likely going to be up for long (if Bioware even manages to hold onto that much cash long enough to not go bankrupt) because of a large number of issues with how they are developing it, one of which is the fact it is entirely voiced, meaning everyone will want a royalty paycheck, easily pushing the start up cost of the game well past the sane purchase limit. then they are going to go overboard on graphics and put it at the top level, so no one can play it without another $1000 just to get upto minimum requirements. I doubt Blizzard would ever have backed up such a project financially because despite easily having the money to (they bought Activition for the hell of it afterall, and built a new HQ) even the $15 a month for WoW is going to look unsubstantial when compared to the monthly cost they will put on TOR

I want a new KOTOR, because I haven't played the old ones. If there is a new one, it'll give bioware motivation to get it up on steam and maybe even with a sale.

I think BioWare probably has their hands completely full right now. They have ME2, Dragon Age, and SWO-TOOR (Old Republic) coming out in the next year or so. I wouldn't expect to see KOTOR 3 any time in the next 3 years. After that, who knows. I personally HATED KOTOR.

I thought KOTOR2 had the potential to be a brilliant game. I particularly like the Influence system, which I would love to see developed further. It's too bad they were forced to ship it quite literally unfinished. I would really like to see what Obsidian could do with another KOTOR game if they actually got to finish it this time.

I personally am not that keen on the old republic being an MMO. I've always loved KOTOR and KOTOR 2 (i thought it was still a pretty good game), for the individual experience, plus i hate playing with people over the internet. If they make a singleplayer KOTOR 3 i'll be happy ^-^, though it probably won't come out for another 3 or so years.
