Ok, so failed thread failed.
All my base now belong to you.
If you want to read fail thread. then open the spoiler and be as-salted by the wall of text. Warning, ingesting to much salt may result in death.
Ok, to start i would like to apologize for making yet another Left 4 Dead 2 thread today, or this week... or this month for that matter. However posting this breakdown on page 4, 5, 17, or 87 bazillion of an existing thread would do little to no good to bring it to the attention of these thick headed dissenters. So i ask you to overlook the annoyance, and use this as a reference to anyone who brings up this discussion. Ok to the meat of the thing...
If Valve, in their chocolaty goodness, decided to break Left 4 Dead 2 down into DLC, they would do so with the best of intentions, grouping things that go together, and trying to deliver the masses exactly what they want, nothing more. So what would DLC with this content look like? Well surely it wouldn't be all in one bundle, thats way to big to be DLC. They would of course break it down, fallowing what one might say is loosely "industry standards".
DLC #1: Map pack DLC, in addition to the map DLC they are already adding to left 4 dead, they would of course be adding the maps found in Left 4 Dead 2. Based on the DLC they have already released, its content, and price. One could guess that 2 of the L4D2 maps would be bundled together for 800 Microsoft Points.
DLC #2: The other maps, i've heard their are 5, so what the hell? I'll even give you the third one free. 800 MSP. (though it would probably be 1200.)
DLC #3: New weapons! With the 3 different shotguns, 2 different UZI's, 3 different assault rifles, 2 different hunting rifles, new magnum gun, new biobomb, new defibrillator, new adrenaline, and the grenade launcher! As apposed to the original 5 weapons, and none of the "new" items i listed. Lets say about another 800 MSP, just to make up for the free-be above.
DLC #4 The melee weapons! Yes, this may just be an opinion, but i'd say from a programmer's perspective, the new melee combat would have to be its own DLC. With all the melee weapons we'll find throughout the game, this would have to be its own DLC, its not simply re-skinning weapons and changing their projectile variation, this is a whole new area of fighting.
DLC #5: New Characters! With the 3 new Special infected, the new boomer/smoker skins, the witch walking, the uncommon infected (new ones for each of the old maps too maybe???). And the 4 new survivors, interpersonal dialogue for each of the new to old characters, (they'd have to drag the old voice actors back in for dialogue updates.) This would probably run 1200, but i'll give it to you for DLC price, another 800 MSP.
This has actually turned out to be a totally worthless thread, now i shall conduct a scientific consensus. Do you think i am for the DLC-ing of L4D2? Or not? be sure to pay attention to my last paragraph and the words used in the title of the thread.
DLC #6: The new game modes, the scavenger mode? Whatever that is... and the other one i can't remember or be bothered to look up. (i've heard its just a new spin on campaign). 800 MSP.
DLC #7: This i'm going to not give a price to, lets say this is just a free update because valve is such an awesome company. This would include a slight graphics upgrade, the new splatter physics, the new chunks of infected flying and updates to all the levels for the new and updated AI director. (remember, the one true god can now change the level arrangement. Just to fuck with you).
So what would the DLC for Left 4 Dead run? based on how you shmuch some of my DLC's together, like 3 and 4... You'd get either 4000, or 4800, which would run you about 60 dollars, or 72, or 84 if #7 (The new AI director0 got released as another 800 pointer.
You know what, if you actually read this, include the word duck in your post, because i'd like to know who actually read it, rather than just saying they hate me because they didn't even bother to read the title completely.
So its the same price (or more) as a retail game? So what? Well, for online and lan games, your PC/Xbox would have to do a check to make sure everyone has All the DLC's, you could only play with someone who had the same combination of DLC. You couldn't load a map and play it without the new characters, weapons, or special infected unless everyone in the party had the DLC. Releasing that many DLC's would fuck up the online. And if its all in one, or free, as some of you might say, then what are they going to charge for it? Full retail price? Less? You're still left with a huge chunk of people without it who can't play with anyone else online. And if its free, what is Valve going to pay all the people who made it?
