Hello escapist I need some advice here. My friend is offering to sell me his Army Armament R85 a replica of the british L85A1 with 1 metal High Cap mag and 2 batteries, the standard 8.4v battery and a more powerful 9.4v battery for $115. The gun has only ever been used in one match of airsoft but the semi auto only fires 2 or 3 shot before jamming but we shot over a hundred rounds in full auto with out it jamming. The gun new retails for $185. My question is should I buy it.

edit: i had the wrong price originally

I've heard nothing but good things about Army brand airsoft, and the L85 is supposed to be a good airsoft weapon. I say go for it, especially if you're getting $50 knocked off.

mm seems to have a high capacity and alot of extras. Looks abit toyish though and its not exactly powerful. I hate electric powered Airsofts. Spring/gas is where its at in my opinion. I would buy that if it was cheaper. $160 (£80ish) is a bit much (but im British, so my values of money could be higher than yours). If you like it, get it =]

You have highcap mags... why do you need semi auto when you got 300-800 bullets without reload

well the closet field to me requires that you use semi auto but the gun is easy to pull of 1 shot at a time in full auto

Yeah you should. It's $50 off retail, with a lypo (at least i think its a lypo) and 2 mags. Why would you ever need semi auto? Airsoft isn't more accurate the less you shoot, its more accurate.

Am I the only one that would prefer paintball, not only for more fun but for more safety?
i think the thing that scares most people from paintball is the high(ish) price of ammo and the fact you can't really just go into the park with them and start shooting at one-another. you could but somebody would most definitely call the police.

i repeated this stunt with airsoft and everyone ignored us or told us to please move to a more secluded spot.

Why would you pay that much for a toy gun (which it is, no arguing)? He's probably just going to use the money to buy Modern Wankfest 2 anyway, you could save his sensibilities by not buying it AND have over $100 to buy sandwiches with or invest in a local brothel.

Pardon my ignorance, but how is paintball supposed to be safer than airsoft? Airsoft can be played comfortably with nothing but long sleeves and eye protection while you need motocross gear to avoid finishing a paintball game covered in welts.
