I have a Gatewayt tablet laptop, the problem is the speaker port is busted. It works, but you have to fiddle the plug around to get it to pick up sound (and it is in at an angle as opposed to straight).
So my question is how do I fix the problem? I thought about taking it apart, but that is way risky to do myself and I am too greedy to pay someone to do it. I could leave it alone, but it may just get worse. I would use the built-in speakers, but they are quite poo and causes some framerate problems in games (especially when a lot of noise is being made at once).

Anyone got any ideas?

a Hammer, that usually works well, apply several times to the screen.

OT: Find a repairman you can trust.

Assuming you have some idea of how to carefully open your laptop (and put it back together) I would try to fix it myself. It seems like the port has just been loosened from its position, so I'd try to lodge it back.

Of course if I find its beyond me, then I'd stop, close the laptop and get it done by the manufacturers (if under warranty) or by a cheap computer store.

It is out of warranty I'm afraid, has been for a while (had an issue trying to install XP after installing Linux over Vista and I called Gateway only a few days after the warranty expired, but I did get XP installed by adding the needed driver to the .iso). So either I do it, or I pay someone.

Google up 'Gateway Tablet Laptop Service Manual'
Search for Service Manual appropriate to your model
Download service manual
Read service manual
Realise working on laptops of any stripe is a gigantic pain in the arse
Have a crack at fixing the problem OR get a qualified technician to fix the bastard thing.

Sounds like the connectors are loose. As mentioned above use solder and put it back together. The process is really tedious though and messing up could mean a bigger, more expensive repair. So I wouldn't do it.

If you can solder go ahead and fix it.It sounds like something soldering should fix, if you can't find someone to.
