I've worn glasses and contacts for several years and, though it was a nuisance at first, I've gotten used to it. My Dad had it a few years ago and it gave him 20/20 vision. Now I find myself considering laser surgery on my eyes. Would you get it?

No, I just don't like the idea that I could possibly go blind.

I might want to at some point though, I'm pretty much blind without my glasses.

I guess... I'd still be worried about the risks. I'm surgiophobic or whatever you want to call it. I don't like surgery.

I usually wear contacts but I do like my glasses sometimes.

Personally not yet, I know a couple of opticians and 'know of' a good few more and they haven't yet. When I know more opticians that trust it I will probably go for it. (Yes I know, anecdotal evidence and so on but...)

No way. There's too much a chance of things going wrong with a surgery like that and even if it does all go well, your eyes will never completely heal from it anyway. Eyes are too precious organs to mess with.

My glasses get mucky really quickly, so the colours of the world seem so much better without them. Shame I can't tell what it is that's colourful if I don't see it through those dirty panes of glass.

Awfully poetic answer considering it could be summarised with "Yes, because I'm too lazy to clean my glasses". Screw the risk, I want stuff to look purdy.

Honestly, I'd like to ... but I can't help being scared of something going wrong.

I might consider it in the next 3-5 years.

I have a grandmother who got 20/20 vision in one eye, but something went wrong during the procedure for the other eye, making it worse than before.

I've had laser eye surgery and it was quick and easy. My face hurt a little as they use a big clamp to keep the eye open while they do it which puts pressure on the muscles around the eye but the eyes themselves didn't hurt at all. I was given some cool goggles to wear at night to stop me rubbing my eyes and after a few days they were fully healed up and have been great ever since. I looked terrible with glasses and although I don't quite have 20/20 vision, it was still well worth it in my opinion. :D

I will stay with contacts thank you. I don't see the need for risk when I can easily put my contacts in every day and only change them once a month.

Makes me look intelligent and wards away people in case I start using long words.

But, I don't like having to wear them for everything that requires my having to read from even a metre's length.

I'd get the surgery. I think I shall when I'm older.

I had laser eye surgery. Want to know how it turned out? Well, let's just say I can bore a hole through 3 inches of steel by staring at it....

Oh you mean THAT kind of laser eye surgery.

I haven't had a need for it, but if it was covered by my insurance then yeah, sure.

Never, mainly due to the fact I look even worse without my glasses.

Plus, it costs like £395 an eye.

Only if I was blind beyond the help of corrective lenses. I use glasses on occasion to see distance or to look intelligent, and they don't bother me. If my eyesight degraded to the point glasses wouldn't help...I'd get laser eye surgury in a heartbeat.

Hypothetically speaking (since I have 20/20 vision), I don't think I would. It sounds too risky and potentially expensive. Moreover, I don't think I would find glasses all that annoying.

Wait until your in your mid to late 20s, otherwise you might have to get it a second time because your eyes are probability still developing.

They said i can't have it..i only have one good eye(the other is very bad) and that even with cash in hand almost all the eye doctors in America would say HELL NO incase something happens and i sue...which since they would make me blind if they failed i would get SOOOOOO MUCH money...Not worth the risk after they told me that anyway.
