I'm creating this thread to see what people perfer. Some people perfer law, order, and stability; others perfer anarchy, chaos, and change. So which do you perfer?

By the way, I was kind of inspired by this thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.53403?page=7#583208]

I'll go for option h: It's complicated. That's where all the fun philosophies are.

Anarchy is fun right up until the point someone stabs you and you realize nobody cares about it.

I don't have to worry, i have this helmet you see... what do you have?

Well I wouldn't mind some change now and then. I don't like law and order. It keeps me safe but removes all the excitement of living. What is the point of living if your going to do the same thing every damn day?

My uber-armoured gameboy beats your bullet proff psp's.

And Ultrajoe's right. It's all well and good until something happens to you, and you don't get any help beyond the possible kindness of others.

Society's rules should be obeyed up to the point where they're shown not to work, and then burn everything down and start again, à là (insert name of any rebellion/uprising/revolution throughout history).

This thread is silly, because in my limited understanding vasilating between the two states is an important evolutionary process in the formation of society as we know it.

I've been shot, and honestly thought I would die. I must admit, I did think to myself "I wish I wasn't such an ass to everyone"
Then I lived, and started being a douche again.

Hmm tough question, the thing about anarchy is the question how long does two hundred years of social conditioning take to break down? Would the mild mannered bank clerk whose life has been governed by routine his entire life and his hobby is stamp collecting suddenly burn down his neighbours house at the slightest whiff of chaos?

I think not. People are too lazy for anarchy, half the population would die without their state benefits. Those getting fat sitting at home watching Jerry are not the definition of the fittest so it would be a self limiter for getting rid of all societys wasters.

Having been beaten to near death by a band of drunks once in my life I can say that the inherent threat of violent disorder would lead to the vacuum being filled in short order, anarchy can never exist in it's truest form as a ordered structure will always rise to supercede it. That is the nature of human kind someone always needs to lead.

The moment a revolution picks a leader is the moment that revolution ceases to be what it set out to be and becomes just another hegemonic structure.

Sorry to be heavy guys.

Its my philosophy a day calender being on Nihilism today thats to blame!

Hmmm, intriguing question!

Would I rather live in a society with well-developed laws and government, like Canada, or in a place that lacks any sort of official order, like Somalia?

I wonder.

Chaos is the primordial way of things, while the concepts of law and order ( On a side-note, I love that show )are inventions of man (and Dick Wolf). Considering our civilization has existed for less than the blink of an eye in the great, cosmic scale of things, still can't say that I'd prefer things to be the 'natural' way, since life can only exist in a state of order; which is proof of its existence, for we are here, are we not? Isn't chaos just a description for the way things are without applied logic and reason, without law? If so, it is not our place to determine these things, since by all rights, we really don't have ANY rights to determine what to subjugate to our paradoxical thinking.

Chaos (for the sake of the topic) is just a description for the way things are without laws. So, yeah.

What things? Whether or not we prefer a society of law and order (I also love this show) or anarchy?

Says who?

Also,

Subjugate: n- to bring under complete control or subjection; conquer; master.

Chaos is really just an unagreeable state of "might makes right". So unless you control some type of small militia you should probably side with order.
