I barely notice a difference, except that plasma tends to be more expensive. Stick to good old CRT I say.

I've got an LCD and a plasma, and I do prefer my LCD for gaming. No techical reason, just personal preference.

Gaming on plasma can actually burn images into the screen, so never use plasma for gaming.
While that is true, it takes a few hours of the same image in the same place. I use my plasma for my 360 all the time. You shouldn't use a plasma if you or someone in the house has a habit of leaving the 360 and TV on once they're done.

Plasma burns when it's running too long. And when I game, I game extensively, so LCD for me.
Also I've seen some plasma screens that downright suck, so for the sake of the price-quality ratio, you're better off getting a decent LCD screen than a sucky plasma for the same cost.

Truth. It's fine, just don't leave it paused for too long or your TV is shot.

A good plasma television will completely destroy even the best LCD screen. LCDs tend to have better response rates and whatnot, but the contrast ratio and colour depth you get out of a plasma is way, way better.

DLP has none of the drawbacks of either Plasma or LCD and is cheaper and lighter than both to boot.

It doesn't really matter. Just get a Cathode ray tube TV and call it good.

Quit obsessing over how a game looks and focus on gameplay for crying out loud. I'm still using the same Walmart TV i have had from the time of the SNES being new.

LCD. Faster refreshing rate, 2ms compared to 25ms for plasma. Though you'd only notice if you've played FPS excessively for years and can see the difference between 40 and 60fps.

Neither. Where's the love for DLP?
Replacement of the lamp / light bulb. The average life span of a TV light source averages 1-3 years (based upon how often the television is powered on and off and the duration of viewing) and the replacement cost for these range from $99 - $350, depending on the brand and model. After replacing the bulb a few times the cost can easily exceed the original purchase price of the television itself. Newer generations units use LED which effectively eliminates this issue, although a replacement bulb may be required over the extended lifespan of the television.

Projectors & TVs should never mix :)
True enough, but when a 50" LCD or Plasma costs upwards of $2000 while a 50" DLP costs $1000, It'll take several years for the DLP cost to pass up the LCD/plasma cost. And it looks a bunch better :D

Yup! It does take time, as greedom said, but I wouldn't take the risk on something so expensive.

I got a Samsung LCD 40" TV that does 1080p and let me say that it rocks my socks to levels that I thought unrockable. I highly recommend Samsung by the way. I was going to get a Sharp, but when I saw it set up in store the difference between it and the Samsung was night and day.

But enough about brands, I'd say LCD is the way to go.

you are forgetting about the $500 replacement bulbs they have tho and the special paint or screen you have to buy to put it on

so lcd will still be cheaper in the long run
