A monster is chasing you down, bent on killing you.
You come to a fork in the rode, one path to the left, one path to the right. You know that one way is your freedom, and one way is your doom. BUT YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHICH IS WHICH!!!!! You can't go to the middle, the monster is about to kill you if you don't pick now.

So quickly, which path would you pick?

It depends on the context. Do I have a map? What does the monster look like? Is he deathly afraid of dandelions? What state of mind am I in? Is there a rubber band nearby? I'm not given enough info. Can you draw a rough representation of the scenario?

I'm not the best runner, so unless that monster is super slow, I'd be likely to die anyway, so I may as well take my chances fighting it >.>
If it was super slow, I could walk down the wrong path, find it was the wrong one, then go back, go around the monster, and walk to freedom while waving at the monster in a cute fashion :3
